Anti Endosulfan Day Observance in Kerala on April 25: Let’s Unite for a Better Cause
April 25, 2011 will be observed as anti endosulfan day in kerala. The state has experienced the early effects while in the use of this dangerous pesticide. Ahead of the Stockholm convention which is slated to begin on 25th April 2011 in Geneva, the state government demands the central to take firm decision to support the global ban on endosulphan. It had been seen that the use of endosulphan in the estates of state-owned plantations corporation of kerala in the early 1970's particularly in kasargode district, had been continued till 2011. According to reports from different sources it is noted that around 4,000 innocent people have lost their life since 1970's due to the spraying of endosulphan.Various studies were conducted and reports supports that this pesticide has long run effects on people which will carry on to generations. Every common man living in kerala with out reading any reports really know that this pesticide is the reason of bringing dangerous effects to life of people in kasargode. Still we keralalites do wonder why the central government is not taking any step to ban this 'danger' which has taken away the people's right to live. Around 81 countries including USA has banned the use of this chemical. But still the central government fails to understand the needs of the people and deprive the people's right to live.
It's not only a problem of kerala itself the state Karnataka also face the similar effects that being brought by the use of endlosulfan. We know that Indian's join hand in hand to counter those illegal things which will affect their life. A seen in the huge campaign 'India against Corruption' it's the mass people's support which had opened the eyes of the government. Our country boost to be the largest democratic country in the world but still it's the words is noted only in the paper. Why couldn't there be a mass campain against this pesticide which takes the life of hundreds and still remains many in unhealthy condition.
The current LDF government in kerala led by the people's chief minister V.S Achuthananthan, had only taken steps to help the victims of this pesticide from the day of assuming the office by providing financial help to the families who suffer from the ill effects of this poison. Added to this, it would be the best opportunity for all unite together give a grant felicitation to people's captain V.S Achuthananthan who had taken various steps for the good will of the people of kerala.
Shall we start from this moment to support the lives who suffer from this mass death creating pesticide. Let us wish this would be a small beginning for a mass campain to open the eyes of the central government. I urge all the members to join hand to bring our strong support the state government which has come forward to help the innocent lives and also to think on the side of the good will of the people of kerala to move forward with their demand of banning endosulpan.
