Mangode is a village coming within the Vellinezhi Panchayath of Palakkad district. The Palakkad - Cherpalchery road (State Highway) passes through this place. Cherpalchery is only about five km. away. From the Mangode junction the road to Vellinezhi starts (towards North).

Mangode Bhagavathy Temple is a famous temple in this part of the district. The annual festival of this temple attracts thousands of people.

Here also, like in many other Bhagavathy temples of this locality, 'Kala vela'(play with oxen) is a major attraction. In 'Kala vela', people carry an artificial ox made of straw, covered with white cloth and having a wooden head. This ox will be fixed on two long bamboo poles, joined like a ladder, so that several people can join together to carry this ox above their head. Several such oxen will participate (each ox will be an offering by somebody)in the procession.

Since many people converge here a temperory market come up there, making brisk sales. Majority of the people here depend on agricultural activities. Betel ('Vettila' used with 'pan'. Also known as 'Thamboolam')is cultivated here by several people, mainly by a community called 'Tharakan' belonging to Hindu.
