Actor Prepares is one of the most reputed training institutes for those aspiring to become television, theatre, or film actors. Founded by actor Anupam Kher, the institute has two centres in Mumbai. Globally renowned actor Anupam Kher launched the Actor Prepares training institute in 2005 to train individuals who are keen on taking up acting as a professional career. The sphere of acting is vast, with opportunities in the fields of television soaps, advertising clips, theatre shows, short films and commercial films. Then there is the current popular world of Web Series telecast on online platforms. No matter which of these fields will be your career launch, you need a good foundation to take off from. Actor Prepares can be that platform to take off. Interested individuals, including kids and teens, can also attend workshops on film acting, stage acting, screenwriting, mime, dance, etc which are scheduled separately from the regular courses.
Note that while the medium of instruction for all the courses is primarily Hindi, students can request for a translation into English if they do not understand some specific instruction, as faculty do have fluency in English as well.

A student cannot walk-in or sign up for a course at the Actor Prepares training institute and expect to get admission right away. Much like its general set-up, there is a professional approach to admissions as well. First and foremost, even before applying for admission to a course, students should be 100% sure that they are serious about joining and are also physically fit and mentally healthy to participate in the intensive training sessions. Discipline and punctuality are a must, with 75% attendance mandatory in order to receive the Diploma or Certificate, as applicable, on the completion of the schedule of the course. It is advisable to carefully go through the admission guidelines, as well as the terms and conditions that have been put up at the official website and not make any hasty application.Eligibility requirements
- You do not need to have any background or qualifications or experience in acting or writing to join a course.
- Age no bar, but those who are 18 years and below must submit a consent letter from a parent.
- It is necessary to be able to be able to speak, write and read either Hindi or English.
The first step to apply for admission to a course at the Actor Prepares training institute is to pay a registration fee of Rs.250/- which is not refundable along with the detailed application form. The screening process includes submitting an audition video for an acting course and a writing sample for the writing course.
The following documents should be scanned and uploaded on being selected-
- One passport size photo.
- Identification and proof of permanent address proof. This could be the passport or Aadhaar Card.
- Student Declaration form signed by the student enrolling for the course.
The above is required to be submitted within a week of getting intimation that you have been selected for a course, failing which you will lose your seat and it will be offered to another student.
Once you join a course and start attend the training classes, you must bring along the receipt of the fee paid as well as the ID card that has been issued to you each time you come to the centre. Entry to the training centre may not be permitted without these two requirements.

The tuition fees for a couple of the courses can be paid in installments, but for most, you need to pay it in entirety at one go. The mode of payment options include a bank Transfer or with cash or by cheque (this to be done 20 days before the due date) or with a credit card. The course fees will not be refunded unless a batch is cancelled which is a possibility if there are fewer than ten students who have enrolled for that batch. A scholarship may be offered to a student who is from a low-income family. This will be given on successfully completing the course and if the management considers him/her to be eligible for it. Note that props and costumes are not part of the course fees and classes in makeup are not conducted at this training institute.
