Light & Life Academy (LLA) is one of the best professional photography institutes in India. It was established in the year 2001 at Ooty in Tamil Nadu with the help of Kodak India & Eastman Kodak, USA. The institute's main goal is to deliver professional photography education through the Gurukul style of teaching. For photography, a deep vision is needed and so the institute helps the students to understand life and light along with various other technical insights of Photography. LLA is well-known as a modern-day Gurukul and it also receives support from LMW- Coimbatore, ZenTask-India, Photoquip-India, Calumet-USA and Gretag Imaging-Switzerland.

Light & Life Academy campus is fully custom designed and has extra-ordinary facilities. The campus is located on a mountaintop about 7000 ft above sea level at Lovedale near Ooty. The campus gives a pleasant feeling and a spectacular view for the students. As it is a hill station, the quality of the light will also be perfect both inside and outside of the campus. To create the best photograph, a conducive environment with proper lighting is required. All the requirements needed for the photography students to learn and update their photography skills can be achieved at the Light & Life Academy. The institute has a well-equipped smart classroom, auditorium, prop room, equipment room, automobile studio, daylight studio, library and 14 other studios with the necessary equipment. Also, for the recreation of the students, the campus has a student hangout space, cafeteria, table tennis room, carrom room and a football ground.

The institute offers PG Diploma in Professional Photography and Diploma in Travel & Nature Photography. Based on the requirements and requests from corporate companies, advertising agencies and media houses, the institute will also offer custom-designed courses in Photography. The Light & Life academy concentrates only on the Digital Photography courses and not on Film Photography. To teach all the aspects of professional photography to the students, the institute follows a well-structured curriculum and stick to classroom and corridor learning. The faculty group of the institute has many visiting professionals and practicing photographers.

For admissions at Light & Life Academy, the aspirants can go through the official website. The admission process involves 3 steps-Portfolio review, Skype interview and Online Personal interview. The institute admits the candidates on First Come First Served (FCFS) basis. To apply for admissions at Light & Life Academy, applicants should have completed graduation and should be more than 20 years of age. Applicants should possess a digital camera and must have a basic idea of how to use a DSLR camera. The institute did not have a hostel facility. However, it will assist the students to find safe accommodation.
