Thus, it is responsible for conducting exams for testing the proficiency of employees in this sector. Out of many other such exams, IIBF is also responsible for conducting the Associate exams i.e. JAIIB and CAIIB.
JAIIB stands for
Junior Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers
. It provides the basic knowledge of Banking and Finance sector, customer relationships and other legal aspects.
CAIIB stands for
Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers
. It is for providing the advanced aspects of general banking management and decision making.
The exam for banking and finance is divided into 2 parts. The first one is JAIIB, which is the first and elementary part and the second is the advanced one i.e. CAIIB. Candidates are eligible to appear for CAIIB if and only if they have cleared the first step i.e. JAIIB.

Legal aspects of Banking
*CAIIB :

The institute conducts JAIIB both online as well as offline. The online examinations are organised at various centres on 3 consecutive Sundays. On each Sunday one paper for each subject is organised. For offline mode examination is conducted on 2 Sundays. On first Sunday test on 2 subjects are taken and the third is taken on next Sunday.
For CAIIB the examination is only conducted offline. The pattern of examination schedule is similar to that of offline JAIIB.
Eligibility criteria for JAIIB and CAIIB
Only candidates who are members of the Institute are allowed to appear for the exam. The candidate should also be employed by an institution which is under the IIBF.
The candidate should have cleared the matriculation exam or equivalent. However the institute can allow a candidate of clerical cadre or supervisory cadre on the bank manager or in-charge's recommendation, even if he/she has not cleared the matriculation exam.
