2. Each group is of 25 marks each
3. Figure to the right in bracket indicates mark
4. Assume suitable data if necessary

GROUP A: Answer any three questions. Question No. 1 is compulsory.
Q.1 Explain the open cycle gas turbine? (05)
Q.2 In a gas turbine plat the air is compressed in a single stage compressor from 1 bar to 9 bar and from an initial temperature of 300 k. The same air is then heated to a temperature of 800 k and then expanded in the second turbine. Find the maximum power that can be obtained from the installation if the mass of air circulated per second is 2kg. Take cp=1kj/kg.k.? (10)
Q.3 Explain the pressure relief value type oil system in the jet engines. (10)
Q.4 Explain construction details of turbine with sketch? (10)
Q.5 Explain the combustion process of Jet engine with sketch? (10)
GROUP B: Answer any three questions. Question No. 6 is compulsory.
Q.6 What are assumptions of thermal efficiency of an ideal gas turbine
plant? (05)
Q.7 Consider an ideal jet population cycle in which air enters the
compressor at 1 atm, 15°c. The pressure leaving the compressor is
5 atm and the maximum temperature is 870°c. The air expounds in
the turbine to work just equal to the compressor work on leaving the turbine the air expands reversibly and adiabatically in a nozzle to 1
atm. determine the velocity of the air leaving the nozzle. (10)
Q.8 Explain the air starting system in jet engine with sketch. (10)
Q.9 Explain an AC ignition unit with circuits. (10)
Q.10 Explain the ground running danger zone with simple sketch. (10)
