1.(a) Draw the functional block diagram of intel 8086 microprocessor and discuss the function
of its different registers.
(b) Compare RISC and CISC processor.
2. Write an assembly language program using 8086 instruction set :
(a) To arrange a given series of hexadecimal bytes in ascending order.
(b) To find out the number of positive numbers and negative numbers from a given series of signed
numbers.
3.(a) Draw the functional block diagram or 8255 chip.
(b) How will you interface, ADC chip to 8086 microprocessor ? Explain in short.
4.(a) Draw the functional block diagram of programmable interval timer.
(b) Write mode '0', mode '2' and mode '4' operation of programmable interval timer.
5. Draw the functional block diagram and write operation of intel 8257 chip.
6. Specify the following regarding 8051 microcontroller :
(a) Registers of 8051
(b) Interrupts of 8051
(c) I/O configuration
(d) Jump instructions
7. Explain the following in short :
(i) Serial and parallel communiction
(ii) Rs 232 C
8. Write short notes on any three of the following :
(a) BSR mode
(b) Jump instructions of 8051
(c) Alpha processor
(d) Memory interfacing
(e) Interfacing of printer to microprocessor
