1.(a) Differentiate between Multiprocessors and Multicomputers. (b) Explain Flynn's classification based on multiplicity of instruction stream and data stream.
2.(a) Define Speedup,Efficiency and Throughput of linear pipeline processors. (b) Explain Branch Handling techniques in context of instruction pipeline design.
3.(a) Explain the following terms related to vector processing : (i) Vector and Scalar balance point (ii) Vectorization compiler or vectorizer (b) Explain the different SIMD computer models based on the memory distribution and addressing scheme used.
4.(a) Explain static and dynamic data routing functions used for inter-PE data exchange. (b) Differentiate between store-and-forward routing and wormhole routing.
5.(a) Explain the various design issues of distributed system. (b) Explain how the virtual channels can be used for deadlock avoidance.
6.(a) Differentiate between loosely and tightly coupled architectures. (b) Explain remote procedure call mechanism.
7.(a) Differentiate between array processing and vector processing. (b) Explain election algorithm in distributed system. 8. Write short notes on any two of the following : (a) Hazard detection and resolution (b) Associative array processing (c) Pipelined vector processing (d) Distributed termination problem
