Paper: Thirteenth

Time Allowed: Three Hours] [Maximum Marks: 100

Note: This paper is divided into part- 'A' and Part-'B'. Attempt all questions from Part- 'A' and three questions from Part-'B'. Use of calculator is prohibited.

Part-'A'
Note: Attempt all eight questions. Answer in not more than 100 words. Each question carries 5 marks.

1. What are the causes of distrust of statistics?
2. Write a note on stratified random sampling.
3. State the different types of bar diagrams.
4. What is probable error?
5. 25 students took-up a test, the results of those who passed the test are given below. If the average for all the students was 2.58 marks, find the average of those who failed.

6. Explain variance and coefficient of variation.

8. Find the missing value in the following data:

9. A factory produces two types of electric lamps A and B. In an experiment relating to their life the following results were obtained:

Compare the variability and consistency from the point of view of length of life using coefficient of variation.
10. Find coefficient of correlation between age and playing habits of the following students:

11. From the following data estimate the population for the year 1986. Using parabolic curve method:
Year : 1971 1981 1991 2001
Population (lakh) : 18 22 24 30
12. The age distribution of the member of a certain children's club is as follows:
Age in years : 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12
Frequency : 5 9 18 35 4 32 15 7 3
there is a member A such that there are twice as many members older than A as there are members younger than A. Estimate his age (in years upto two decimals).
13. Distinguish between secular trend, seasonal variation and cyclical fluctuations. How would you measure secular trend in any data?
