Surging Indian Population-A Major Problem

This article describes about the problem being faced because of growing population in India.

Presently India is ranked 2nd in the world in terms of population after China. From the figures it is estimated that if the Indian population continues to grow up in the same pace, India will exceed China by the year 2030 in terms of population. I personally feel that it is not a matter of pride for India to be called as the most populated country in the world. Indian population has crosses several crores beyond one Arab and is continuously increasing. It is a high time for the nation now to look into this problem of rising population as it is the cause of many other problems like poverty, education, scarcity of food and shelter.

Poverty- Primary Cause of Population in India:

If we look into country like India as a whole we will find maximum masses living in poverty who find it very difficult to make their both ends meet. Due to lack of resources and scarcity of food and money, they feel if they will have more children there will be more people working in a single house and money can be generated for living. As such one can see 4-10 children in a single house. If every house in India continues adding population in the same fashion, it would be a population explosion in the times to come.

We have to eliminate this poverty factor from our country. More and more schemes like Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) should be brought into force so that lower class also finds employment and at least earn to fill their belly and bring up their family. This will definitely help a great deal in lowering the population graph.

Lack of Education-Ignorance to After Effects of Overpopulation:

Literacy rate of Indian population is about 68%. Still much of the Indian folks are unaware of the basics of education. Lack of education and proper guidance is also one of the major factors giving an edge to the increasing population.

Basic education to each and every citizen of the nation should be made mandatory. Road shows, 'Nukkad Nataks' etc. Should be played throughout the country focusing the rural areas guiding them about the worse effects of excessive population.

How to Stop Rising Population In India?

1. Indian govt. should award the couple adopting the family planning schemes and opting for a single baby.
2. People in rural areas and below poverty line should be guided about the adverse effects of overpopulation.
