Android is a complete operating environment based on the Linux V2.6 kernel. This article will introduce you to the Android operation system. Introduction to Google Android Platform which is Open software platform for mobile development.

Developers are using Java to write those apps by using java libraries. Users can download the apps from internet. Most of the apps which were released by Google are under the apache license, open source code and free software.

  • Videocalling: Videocalling is enabled through UMTS(Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) network or over IP.

  • Multitasking: Multitasking for applications are available in this version.

  • Voice based features: You can do Google search through voice by using this feature.

  • Web browser: It is based on the WebKit layout engine(designed to allow web browsers to render web pages) which is open source and linked with google chrome engine.

  • Native support for multiple cameras.

  • Improved application control and power management

  • New audio effects such as headphone virtualization, bass boost, reverb and equalization

  • Multi-touch software keyboard

  • Graphical and audio enhancements for game developers
