Process of my interview in IBM

I went to IBM in january in gurgaon , i live in delhi , so it took me 1 and half hour to reach there.

I reached there at 11 A.M , when I entered into the company's office, on the gate it required to sign there, so I signed there and then they gave me a identity card, then I went to the reception area and said that
"I have come for interview".
Then they asked: "Who called you up here?", then I said "I have come here through the reference of MR. SHARAT T."

Then they said me to go to the main office where interview were being conducted. Then I went to the place where interviews were going on, there I waited for half an hour, after which they collected our resume, there were 100 candidates. After collection of our resumes, we waited for another half an hour.

First Round: Introduction Round

The first round was conducted in which they asked us some basic questions about our nationality and where do we live and since when. Those who were living in Delhi since their birth, there was no problem for them and for those who were from other places or who were not born in Delhi, they were required to submit their passport. I cleared this round and was forwarded to the next round.
Many of candidates were thrown out in the first round.

Second Round: Typing test

The second round was conducted, in which I had to clear a typing test, and the minimum speed to clear this test was 25 w.p.m and I cleared this round successfully and my speed was 30 w.p.m. Then they printed a certificate of typing test and they attached it with our resume.

Third Round: Written test

After Typing test, the third round was conducted in which I had to clear a written examination. For this, they gave all of us a question paper , in which there were 4 sections :
  • English
  • Logical-reasoning
  • Grammar
  • Attitude

They gave us 1 and half hour to complete this. I completed this test in 1 and half hour and submitted my sheet to them.

Then they said us to wait. We waited for at least 3 hours. We were tired during waiting, Fourth round was still very far, because HR manager hadn't came till that time and it was also taking them a lot of time to check our written test. When we were waiting for the HR, we had some coffee during that time and the coffee was free of cost for all of us.

Fourth round: Interview with HR Manager

After waiting for three hours finally, HR came and they started calling candidates for personal interview. My number came soon and they called me for interview, I was very nervous. But the HR was very good, they made me feel comfortable, and then started asking questions--

Their first question was--

1. Tell me something about your profile.

Ans. I answered My name is Shikha. I live in North Delhi at ...... , I am an undergraduate and I am doing B.COM from Delhi University and in my final year.

When I was answering this question they stopped me in between and asked
"ARE YOU AN UNDERGRADUATE?"

I said
"YES"

Then they said that:
"sorry , you can't apply for this position"

I asked them
"WHY?"

Then they said that
"We do not hire undergraduates."

Then I said that
"But the person who referred me , he said that undergraduate can apply",

They said,
"This must be an misunderstanding",

Then I thanked the interviewer and went out of the room, I was very upset, because it took me a whole day and my all effort didn't pay me anything.

But I didn't lose hope and decided to come back after completing my graduation.

It was an amazing experience for me , I learned a lot of things and it also taught me one thing that:

"ANYTIME YOU GO FOR INTERVIEW FIRSTLY GET ALL THE INFORMATION REGARDING THE JOB AND SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THIS"

I hope it helps you all.
