Some interesting facts about physics you should know if your are studying physics
Here are Some facts about Physics that are necessary to keep in mind if you are studying Physics.
quantum mechanics, special theory of relativity, no answer till date of basic questions of fundamental physics- what is mass? I have tried to list the some fact that you know but you didn't noticed yet.
1. We all know that the universe began with no net charge, i.e. charge was conserve, but what was the ratio of electrons to that of protons in the beginning?
You will expect 1:1, that's wrong.
In actual there was 1 proton for every 10,000 electrons or even more, at the beginning there were majorly electrons and positrons and photons and neutrinos, it was after a long time of 70 corer years that the first atom came into existence after the big bang.
2. Why are the equations given by Einstein to explain the transformation of frames known as Lorentz's transformations?
Actually these equations were discovered by Lorentz long time before Einstein even thought of no ether space.
However these equations were proposed to explain some phenomenon exhibited by electrons and protons, but somehow Lorentz gave a very complicated explanation regarding the derivation of these equations and wasn't accepted at that time, it was Poincare who named these equations given by Einstein as Lorentz transformation to honor the scientist.
3. Quantum mechanics is the second most experimentally verified theory after relativity, but there is no way to obtain the Newtonian picture from it as we do from relativity when we put v<<c it's as if there is no transformation between quantum mechanics and Newtonian Relativity.
Do not forget that even the largest of our stars are still made up of tiny particle that are governed by quantum mechanics, whereas the star is governed by Newtonian Relativity.
4. The basic fundamental pillars of physics are missing as of now basic fundamental lack a clear definition.
Can you answer these questions?
a. What is mass?
b. What is charge?
c. What is a wave?
d. What is energy?
If you have an answer to these questions then please let me know, post your answers as feedback.
5. Michelson was the first American who got the Nobel Prize for physics. He got that for his famous experiment named Michelson-Morley experiment, an experiment that was initially carried out to detect the presence of ether. The fact is he got the prize 2 years after Einstein gave his special theory of relativity.
6. Gravity as such doesn't have equilibrium in the universe, because there is no force opposing it has found till date, yet the universe expands!
7. The spiral arms of spiral galaxies lack an explanation.
8. If there is any possibility of ever meeting with aliens the most advanced civilization that we will ever encounter would be that of bacteria.
9. Which terrestrial object in our solar system has a bigger possibility of supporting life?
You will say - Mars, but you are wrong.
The answer is a small moon of Jupiter Europa which is covered in ice, scientists think that there may exist water at a depth of 32 km from the surface, first life on earth emerged in the water, However such a life on Europa would not be able to contact us because of the 32 km ice sheet above them.
