This small article gives a very short brief about the great leaders of India whom I love and admire their efficiency, knowledge and wisdom and their political ability. The leaders I admire and love are: Mahatma gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Chakravarthi Rajagopal Achary, Dr. S RadhaKrishnan, Indira Gandhi, Subash Chandra Bose, and Swami Vivekananda.

A short biography - Mahatma Gandhi (1869 – 1948)


Mahatma Gandhi , whose full name is Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi, was born in Porbander of Gujarat in India. He got his education in India and London . He commenced his career as a lawyer in India and then in South Africa. He started his Satyagraha Movement against the apartheid in South Africa and won the honour of the Indians. His persistence and devotion to work for the freedom of India made him an unchallenged leader of the Indian public. As a firm believer of non-violence , he lead the civil disobedience movement against the British and won the hearts of people world-wide, and made the British to quit India. He is the sole cause for the division of India and Pakistan to yield Jinnah's request for the unwarranted division of India. It is sorrowful to note that , the great Indian who fought for the freedom of India was shot dead in the free India. He is known as "the father of India"

A short biography - Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru (1889 – 1964)


Jawaharlal Nehru, the father of Indira Gandhi and Grand father of Rajiv Gandhi , was born at Allahabad, got his education at Harward and Cambridge. He was a Barrister-at-law. Before he could build up his career as a lawyer, he was drawn into the freedom movement and became a powerful leader of Congress party. He was the trusted leader of Mahatma Gandhi and was made the first Prime Minister of independent India. He is one of the best International leader and one of the founder of the Non-aligned movement. He was loved and respected by every Indian for his good qualities. He is known as Chacha Nehru and he loved children very much. His birth day 14th November is named as "Children's Day".

A short biography - Chakravarthi Rajagopal Achary (1878 – 1972)


Popularly known as Rajaji, Chakravarthi Rajagopal Achary was born in Hosur , in the district of Salem. He was an eminent lawyer. He plunged deeply into freedom struggle . He participated in Salt Satyagraha and courted arrest and imprisonment. He was made the Chief Minister of the integrated state of Madras He was the first Indian Governor-General of India. His works on The Mahabharath and Gita have been acclaimed as the best in India. A very good speaker and writer with good literature, both in English and Tamil. He took his last breath on December 1972 at Madras.

A short biography - Dr. S. Radhakrishnan (1888 – 1975)


Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, known as Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan is an eminent professor of Philosophy who became president of India. Though he wanted to keep himself away from politics, he was very keen and actively took part the struggle for freedom of India. He was the first Indian to be elected as Fellow of British Academy. He was a good scholar and delivered lectures in Harward, Oxford and in many other foreign Universities. He was the Ambassador from India at Moscow. He held the office of Vice-President for two terms. He is the author of the book" Indian Philosophy and Idealists view of life" . He is the recipient of Templetion award for 1975 for his special contribution to Hinduism. A Great man of India .

A short biography - Indira Gandhi (1919 – 1984)


Indira Gandhi, daughter of Pandit Jawarharlal Nehuru and mother of late Prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, was the mighty Indian Prime Minister to feel proud of. A lady Prime Minister who steered the nation for 15 years to bring India on the threshold of greatness. She was one of the worlds greatest leaders. India fought a war with Pakistan during the regime of Indira Gandhi. A lady who is very bold and firm in her decisions. She carried the message of unity, harmony and integration to every nook and corner of India. She was assassinated by her own unloyal security guards on 31 October 1984. An able leader the world will remember for ever.

A short biography - Netaji Subash Chandra Bose (1895 – 1945)


Subash Chandra Bose was a powerful and able speaker and organizer who was known as the revolutionary son of Bengal. He was elected as the President of All India Congress, but he got resigned from the leadership. He firmly believed that independence to India cannot be achieved through Non violence. He raised against the British. He escaped from India from the clutches of British and formed the Indian National Army in Burma. All Indians who were domicile in Burma and other countries joined together and rallied behind him. Bose was the leader who aspired for the Azad-Hind, Free India. He was reported to be missing in an Air crash. He could not be traced. But historians say that he was alive, without any evidence to prove. He was a true national leader with true patriotism and might.

A short biography - Swami Vivekananda (1863 – 1902)


Swami Vivekananda whose original name is Narender dutt, was a disciple of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. He was a scholar and champion of Vedantic Philosophy. His speech at Chicago conference on world religions was very impressive and attracted the world. The world came to know the greatness of Hinduism for the first time after his powerful speech. He was the first Sanyasi to speak in English. He is the first Indian to cross the seas to preach Hinduism to the west. He was a powerful preacher who advocated Hinduism to a great extent.
