Vacation With Adventure And Relaxation: Masinagudi – Wildlife Haven Between Nilgris, Ooty And Mysore

This article details about the beautiful masanagudi situated at the juncture of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka border. Masanagudi is a green valley situated adjoining mudumalai and bandipur wildlife sanctuaries at the foot of Nilgris. Masanagudi is a tourist spot for those who love adventure as well as tranquility. In short a perfect getaway from busy and ful life.

Masinagudi at the foothills of Nilgris

Masinagudi is a green valley at the foot of Nilgris and is 28 kilometers from Ooty. A plush green valley surrounded by beautiful hills of Nilgris. Masinagudi is adjacent to mudumalai, the famous wildlife sanctuary which is famous for its elephant safaris. Mudumalai lies right to the Mysore – Ooty highway. Most of the tourists travelling from mysore to ooty make it a point not to miss Mudumalai and bandipur sanctuaries. Bandipur is another wildlife sanctuary next to Mudumalai. There is a very scenic and not much used route left of the national highway from Mysore to Ooty. That road goes through Masinagudi.

Scenic beauty and Wildlife in the Masinagudi road

There are two different landscapes that we come across while travelling from masinagudi to ooty. First we pass through the plain where on the both side there is forest. We come across wildlife animals every time we travel through this road unlike the national highway. I came across wild boar, deer, peacock, monkey, bison and Elephant during the day time. One can also find unexplored forests in this area. On travelling towards Ooty there would be Nilgris mountain range ahead and plain forest around. One would be mesmerized by the surrounding beauty. Also one can find deers crossing the roads without any inhibition.

While climbing the mountain range there are about thirty four hair pin bends and many view points. With a good driver the travel could be spectacular and adventurous. While climbing down or up the mountain range in the early morning one can see the clouds descend into masinagudi plains. When I saw that spectacular view I felt as though the heaven has descended down on earth. As the sun comes up the clouds slowly disappear. Nice way to spend early morning to view such a sight. There are tea shops aside too, Just park your vehicle have a early morning cup of tea or coffee and enjoy the sight.

Resorts at Masinagudi

There are variety of resorts at masinagudi. One can find by searching in internet. They supply good home made food as per the request of the guest. One should not forget that these resorts more of guest houses are amid of forest. At most of the resorts night safari on request is provided. Here comes the adventure part.

The Night Safari is on a open jeep where there are head lights that help you locate the wild animals. Also for protection they have an alarm, if any wild animal comes nearby the alarm is switched on. Mostly the animals stay away due to light. Most animals come out at night. We can find the following animals at Masinagudi
