Ways to effectively work in a team


When you are working in a team, you have to follow some rules such as being adjustable, harmony and unity,presence of mind, learning from team work and criticisms. These points are very simple but very important while working in a team.

Working in a team


Working in a team can be an interesting activities or teamwork may even sound complicated to some people. Some people quickly sink in a team whereas some time feels very uncomfortable to work in a team. But we have to perform many tasks in our life with a group of people or many people. Many times in life we come across team work. Team work can also be rewarding like the individual tasks. Some people do not like to work in teams because they have a sense of independent thinking and feel uncomfortable to mold with the opinions of other people. We may come across the activity of teamwork anywhere such as offices, homes, public places or any other arenas. We all should be prepared to do team work whether we like it or not. In offices many large projects are completed by a large team. If we live in a joint family, we do many activities together. Conflict is usually a common problem when we are working in a team. We should take preventive steps to avoid conflicts.

Ways to work effectively in a team


Be adjustable

When you are working in a team you must be open to the idea of all the people in the team. You should carefully listen to the points of everyone so that you can come to a conclusion. If you are the leader of the team you should be a good listener and learn to come to a conclusion by collective opinion. Everybody in the team should be open towards the ideas of everybody in the group. If you are not happy with the point of someone in the group do not deny their point abruptly at the first instance. You ask the person to explain this point and know the root of the thought of the person.

Harmony and Unity

People do not realize the importance of harmony and unity at an early stage. Usually many times people try to behave in an individualistic manner even when they are working in a team and later on experience that the people in the team are not co-operating them. Usually every person in the team strives to gain importance than the other person which is actually a wrong ideal of team game. Do not forget that you are working with a group of people but striving towards for one single goal. Remember that you are assigned with a team work because the nature of the work is such that it can be completed only when you unify with a group of people. Just imagine if you were assigned individually to complete such a tedious task within a specific time frame, could you complete it? You are working with a group of people so that you can complete the task successfully. If you are the leader of the team you can view that everybody in the team are harmonious with each other.

Presence of mind

When you are working with a group of people your presence of mind is also a very important factor. Your contribution is very important to the team and hence due to your lack of presence you may spoil the task. Always concentrate and have the track of the work your team mates are doing. Anyhow join team works so that you learn how to work with a group of many people.

Always learn from the teamwork

Always observe the work done by the other members of your team so that you learn a lesson from them. You can learn many positive aspects from many people and try to develop them. You also share your knowledge, strength and positive points to your team mates so that you gain co-operation from them. If you are co-operative with your team members, only then they can share co-operation with them. If you try to withdraw with your team, then your team does not extend any co-operation with you.

Be open to criticisms

Be open to criticisms because when you work in a team your team members are bound to criticize you to complete the task smoothly. You always learn from the criticisms if you take it in a right way. Even if they criticize you remember that they are the members of your own group and their criticisms cannot lead you to wrong direction, however harshly they may criticize. If they criticize you this moment, your mind immediately awakes to perform another task.
