Some Common Mistakes Of Teachers And The Ways To Rectify Them
Teachers commit some common mistakes such as insulting students, discriminating them, not explaining the lessons and speaking ill about any community. The teacher should not forget his or her duty and to mold the students in a right way.
Some common mistakes committed by teachers
The prime responsibility of the teachers is to teach the students and provide them the necessary knowledge to flourish later on in life. The duty of a teacher is often considered as sacred because the relationship between a teacher and a student is like a parent and a child. In the earlier days in India teachers were treated with a great deal of respect and were prostrated and offered with a Gurudakshina when the student completed his training. Today the job and role of a teacher has changed dramatically. Today a teacher has to teach many students in the class and hence cannot personally give attention to every kid in the class. The students today have some common complaints about teachers. Sometimes the behavior of the teacher is not appreciated by the kids due to genuine reasons. Students are after all innocent and have a guileless frame of mind and hence cannot lie about a teacher's ill behavior. I remember that when I was in school we could not admire certain teachers due to different reasons.
Reading out the wrong answers
One common mistake committed by the teachers is that they read out the funny answers of the weaker students in front of the whole class. Although the other students in the class have a hearty laughter, the student who is insulted is embarrassed. This situation commonly reflects of the scenes from 'Taare Zammen Par' wherein a boy named Ishan Awasthi was always insulted in the class. His poor marks ie. 3/25, 1/25 were always read in the class. These situations almost relate to common life. The teacher does not think how painful the student feels and most of the students develop an inferiority complex from their childhood days due to this reason and they cannot access their strong points. The teacher should remember that her or his duty is to handle such students in a very fine and patient way. Not explaining fully
Another mistake a teacher commits towards students is not explaining the full chapter of a lesson. Most of the teachers are in a hurry to complete the prescribed syllabus and hence do not take full initiative to explain the full chapter of the class. Some of the teachers only explained the first and the last chapter of the lesson and only read out the sentences of the middle paragraphs. The teachers make hurry for teaching lesson but the students cannot learn a lesson fully and who would be responsible if the student secures low marks in the examination? The teachers should remember that their prime duty is to explain and make the lesson easy. If the teacher is scared that he or she is unable to complete his syllabus for not teaching well, then the teacher may again have a double fear that the students may fail in the exams. Hence the teacher should properly plan a timetable to teach all the important points of the lessons. During his or her free time, she or she can highlight the important points of the chapter which is to be taught the next day and highlight the same points in the class. The teacher should learn the skills of time management. Discrimination
One more negative point about teacher is that they are always fruity with the kids who are smart looking and rich and always harsh with the students who are poor or weak in studies. They really do not mind to hurt the sentiments of the little children by unnecessary treating them hard. Even if a student is weaker in studies then should give a good smile and greet the child warmly during the free time. When a teacher is teaching or getting the assignments done she or he may become strict to impose discipline in children but otherwise the teachers should greet the children with smile. The teacher should remember that they are not appointed as teachers to make friendship with rich people and despise the poor but to improve the weak points of every student. Imagine if somebody differentiates between your children with the rich pupils. Speaking about a community
Teachers also often speak to the students about a particular community and also speak ill of the other races, religions, or castes while teaching any lesson. The teachers sometimes think that the innocent students of especially primary class do not understand about the discrimination aspects and hence speak any thrash about any religion or caste. The teachers even point out the illness of any cultural aspects to the students. The students are young and innocent and hence do not backanswer the teachers.
The teacher should be aware of the role that she is playing towards the students.
Good! In yester years the teachers were finding mistakes and now (being we are in the MODERN days) thing is changed we start finding mistakes on teachers. Good development!
