Himachal Pradesh is situated in the shadows of the great Himalaya in the Northern part of India. Himachal Pradesh is the land of Gods and Goddess, thus called “Dev-Bhoomi”. Himachal Pradesh: short introduction:

Himachal Pradesh is located in the altitudes of Himalaya which ranges from 350 meters to 7000 meters. It is a small state having area of just 55673 kilometers. Himachal Pradesh was founded by Dr. Y. S. Parmar. Himachal Pradesh become new state on 25th January 1971 (earlier it was a part of Punjab).
Himachal is blessed with the beauty of nature and thus is one of the hottest tourist spot in India. Seven hottest places which you can visit while your holidays in Himachal are as follows:

1) Manali:

It is situated in the Kullu district, on the bank of river Beas, it is one of the most beautiful location one can ever think of. It is a traveler's paradise. This place is known for its wonderful sights, lush green valleys, trekking, mountaineering, fishing, para-gliding, ice skating and golf. Other places around Manali which can be visited are Kothi (12Km), Rahal Falls (2Km), Manali Sanctuary, Ancient Hadimba Temple, Keylong (117 Km), Trilokinath and Udeypur, Manikaran etc.

2) Kullu:

It is also situated on the bank of river Beas and is just 40 Km from Manali. It is known as the valley of God. World famous Kullu Dusshera is organized here. This place is also blessed with the nature's grace and beauty. Some wonderful places around Kullu are Raghunathji Temple (1km), Vaishno Devi (4Km), Jagannathi Temple (3Km), Bijli Mahadev Temple (11Km), The Great Himalayan National Park (620 sq. Km), Kanawar Sanctuary, Larji (34Km), Pulga and Khirganga(16 Km), Naggar (28Km), Malana (28Km) and lots more.

3) Solang Velley:

It is about 13 Km. It is a wonderful place covered with snow and offers the views of Glaciers and snow capped mountain peaks. This spot is used for camping by trackers. Skiing is the most wonderful experience that can be enjoyed there. In this place winter carnival is organized from February 10th to 14th.

4) Rohtang Pass:

It is at a distance of 51 Km from Manali. It is situated at an altitude of 3980 meter. It is a gateway to enter Lahaul and Spiti. This place I open for visiting from June to November each year. For rest of the year roads are blocked due to heavy snowfall.

5) Shimla:

It is capital city of Himachal Pradesh. It is a paradise to visit and is known as the "Queen of the Hills". It is situated at an altitude of 2130 meter in Shiwalik Hills. Climatic conditions here are just awesome. Due to this reason it was the summer capital of British Empire when they ruled over India. It is best known for the sight-seeing, para-gliding, natural beauty, awesome climate, snow covered peaks, ice skating and golf. Places to look forward to visit are The Mall, Viceregal lodge, Himachal State Museum, Institute of Advanced Studies, Jakhoo Hill, Annadale, Summer Hill, Chadwick Falls, Portor Hills, Sanjauli, Mashobra (2149 meter), Kufri (2622 meter), Fagu (2509 meter), Naldehra, Tattapaani, Narkanda (2708 meter), Hattu Peak (3300 meter), Hatkoti (1100 meter), and The Ridge.

6) Dalhousie and Khajjiar:

It is one of the best known Hill Station in India. It is situated in the beautiful valley of Chamba. It is blessed with the wonderful landscapes, snow covered peaks, awesome climate, flower-bedecked meadows, beautiful temples. Must look place are Subhash Baoli (2085 meter), Satdhara (2036), Panjpulla, Bakrota Hills (2085), Kakatope (2440 meter), Dhainkund (2745) and Khajjiar (1851 meter).

7) Lahaul and Spiti:

It is known as the cold desert. By road it is 200 Km from Manali. Roads are open only in summer. Rest of the year they are closed due to heavy snow fall and rainfall. It is blessed with the spectacular and wonderful landscapes, has beautiful snow covered peaks, beautiful Buddhist temples, monasteries, place for tracking and mountaineering. Some of the places to visit are Baralacha La Pass (4870), Buddhist Gompa, Mulkila Hill (6500 meter), Khibber Pass and many more.

Himachal Pradesh is really Switzerland of India and one can also visit various temples here. The place has many beautiful side scenes and holy places to visit for. Maximum numbers of Hindus are found here and almost every house has its own temple. The place is called "Dev Bhoomi" as it has maximum numbers of famous temples like Chamunda Devi, Naina Devi, Jwala Ji, Chintpurni etc.
