Review of Chetan Bhagat's Revolution 2020

Chetan Bhagat one of well renowned author of some ever lasting and top selling s of India. This is the review of his lasted book which was released two weeks back and well very one should make a reading to it. He is one of the bestselling author of his books like Five Point Someone, one night at the call center, The Three Mistakes of My Life and 2 States and well now he has come with another scintillating and gripping tale from the heartland of India. Are you ready for the review of revolution 2020?

I am neither a book savvy nor have a passion or a hobby to read books but I had interest with Chetan Bhagat's stories and I read for him and his creative tales. As soon the Revolution 2020 was released, I got the book and have completed fully reading this book. I start reading with eagerness and I completed the book in two days but well I was in great confusion on how to review this book and how others would think upon my opinion. Yet, I finally collected my ideas and have written my review about this book Revolution 2020.

revolution 2020
The revolution of this story is,

  • In a small town in India, two intelligent boys were residing.

  • One boy wants to make money with his intelligence.

  • While the other boy wants to create a revolution with his intelligence.

  • Well that was fine but the problem and the twist of this gripping tale was, they both loved the same girl.

When I opened the first page, these were the wordings which attracted me and gave more interest to read and know the full story soon.

"Welcome to Revolution 2020. A story about childhood friends Gopal, Raghav and Aarti who struggle to find success and love in their life at Varanasi. However, it isn't easy to achieve this in an unfair society that rewards the corrupt. As Gopal gives in to the system, and Raghav fights it, who will win?"
Finally on reading the book fully, I just wanted to say in simple words that
Revolution 2020 is all about Love, Corruption and Ambition.

Story Preview:

The story as said before, is all about the three people, that is the two boys and one girl who were childhood friends living in the city of Varanasi. The three people names who are related to this tale are Gopal, Raghav and Aarti who did their schooling from same school with each having career ambition in different fields. Raghav's intelligence and talent helped him to get a admission in IIT at Banaras Hindu University while Gopal, his school mate from a poor family who failed his attempt, leaves to Kota to prepare himself and crack the engineering entrance exam the next year. During this situation when Gopal goes to Kota, Aarti and Raghav gets close to each other and fell in love. This create a misunderstanding with Raghav and Gopal.

After some years, Raghav did journalism, as he had very less interest on engineering and more over his ambition was to work against corruption. Gopal himself turned out to be the director of Ganga-tech engineering college. As the story goes on, the remaining is all about Raghav attempts to fight against corruption and his indirect fight with Gopal.

Well are you thinking that this tale seems to be look like a love story ?
But if it is actually a love story, I am confused what to say about this. Well before I want to add anything else to the main content of the book, I want to say that there was lots of f**k word included with few other vulgar words. So I better request to have a rating with “A” grade.

Do you think this story is focused about revolution as the title states?

Well, I would frankly say NO. There is nothing related to talk about revolution.
And more over it doesn't seems like he has stressed over the title. Only after completing about half of the story I came to know that the author tries to focus on the main content of the tale while before that it just shows that he has just written to fill up the pages with some boring chapters to make it big with a great background. Even the author lacks himself with proper idea on how to conclude the tale on what the tile he as chosen for this book and finally he has written an improper love story or anything else which is unrelated to this title.

The main theme he focused is on Corruption and he has well shown the extreme limit of corruption done. He mainly drives at corruption which are done in the established educational institutions and he gives an insight that education can be given only by giving money and discloses it to the public. From the basic thing of constructing a building to getting a AICTE approve for the Educational institution, the author has shown number of corruptions which are taking place to develop and run a educational organization in our Country. However let us look if this theme will bring some clear understanding to the people about corruption which are happening in our Country with the government for building an institute. The author has included corruption which is done by a MLA and his condition after resigning from the post. But Chetan bhagat has hardly penned something about called revolution relating to his title.

So according to me it would be better if the title 'Revolution 2011' would have been kept as Corruption 2020

As in the other books, the author has also given importance to the topic of Pressure on students which given by their parents and others during competitive exams and their difficulty to attain the desired goal in addition to the other topics in the chapter. This is something common which we can find in his all books since because he might have known the difficulty of getting it as he has struggled himself a lot during his times of being a student of IIM and IIT. Moreover, he could have written something about dark horse winning the race or something which can really inspire students more but he failed in it. Overall he lacks the creativity and new idea in this book.

But one thing which I didn't like in the story was, the author is stressing about failure of student and well he has done this in his all books. I want to understand myself that in all of his stories, the student's who failed were the compliment of IIM's and IIT's. I don't know as just because Chetan Bhagat has studied in the Country's most top and well esteemed colleges which means he is in the Victory seat? I also want to clear that whether all student's out of IIM and IIT are failed student's ? I want to suggest you kindly to stop his thinking and attitude of those failed student's because this book is not only read by students of IIM's and IIT's but also read by a simple and average student's like me.

A book readable by everyone?

First of all what I had in my mind was a little praise and good name for Chetan Bhagat, since he is a good writer and author of many top selling books of India. Even on reading this I am very happy about the main theme which he focuses about Corruption since it is one of main problem in our Country currently. May be he had a great desire to write a story related about corruption and change India's fate with his writing by creating a revolution in 2020. I will surely appreciate his writing and organizing of the story part chapter wise in a neat and understandable way with such a simple words. His attempts to reach students and youths who don't ever know the higher level English is a type of gambling he has played and he has succeed well in reaching first timers too.

Doubt whether Chetan Bhagat's wrote Revolution 2020 ?

Yes, I have a doubt whether, the author who has name and fame as one the most respected author of India, wrote this tale Revolution 2020. Because in this story he has nothing sensible to say to the readers than exasperating the dress or clothes of girl. There is no creativity in the literature he used and also the language of this book is easier simple than Gulmohar book which we have studied in schools. And more over I should not forget to talk about printing mistakes and errors in book.

I also want to make myself clear that the author instead of creating social awareness about corruption in his book, It seems like the author wants to make people familiarize with some vulgar words because of his usage of words in all book regarding 'sex' and also the new inclusion of vulgar word 'fuck' which can be found in all pages you turn up.

Chetan Bhagat, who claims to be India's most loved and respected writer wants such a awareness among people of using vulgar words ? There are many writers who just follow the same technique of writing a story but I don't know how about we can start a revolution of writing books with this gentle word. Well, everything needs to be taken an initiative to be done. Hope the writers and books written by them need to go for a Censor Board Certification before it has been released.

Increase of cost for this book?
We all know the normal price tag for the books which we order through Flip kart is Rs 84 while the outside market price will be Rs 140. But this time Chetan Bhagat, the author since because of his fame and name he decided raising the price of book. Ordering a book through internet is not possible or done by all, but since he has lots of fans and readers, he might get it out as he desired.

Conclusion:

Finally, I want to conclude that, the respect which I had for Chetan Bhagat has been pulled down by him. I want make clear to all other people who are reading this and as well as the fans of Chetan Bhagat like the people who hate vulgar words and those gentle people who believe in the decency that please don't read this book or else you finally end up with knowing lots of dirty words than earlier you complete this book.

And at last my request to great author Mr. Chetan Bhagat is next time when you write another book, please do mention the vulgarity class so that kids nr people who hate vulgarity can restrict them-self from reading it.

This article is very nice . I have not yet read Revolution 2020 but read 3 Mistakes of My Life. There is no doubt that Chetan Bhagat is a great writer. While reading this article I found similarities between Revolution 2020 and 3 mistakes of my life. One boy from a well to do family and the other from a poor family, the way they think, the way these friends struggle etc are some of the points I felt similar between the two.

And at the end of this article you have mentioned about the usage of vulgar words and many people would know them after reading his book. I completely agree with that. Because I was not at all familiar with many words before I started reading 3 mistakes of my life. Here also he has mentioned about IIT college and which is similar with 5 point some one. I think he should start thinking in a different way rather than writing books which have similar concepts.
