Germany is becoming a hub for higher education with the number of international students joining universities for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes on the rise. The universities offer a diverse selection of programmes for higher education along with a chance of undertaking research projects. In addition to theoretical teaching, the education system in German universities pays ample stress on the application of the theory lessons, ensuring students get a balanced education and not just book knowledge.

All foreign students seeking entrance in schools and universities abroad need to meet a certain criterion for gaining admission. It is the same with German universities as well. Various steps involved for studying abroad in Germany are discussed below –

The First Step

Students wanting to seek admission in German universities can contact The Application Services for International Students; which is a cell set up primarily for assisting foreign students. The cell is a collaboration of close to a hundred academic institutions, the Conference of University Rectors and DAAD, which is the German academic exchange service. The cell has a centralized listing of all the German educational institutions, including universities along with admission criterion and other essential information with regards to studying in Germany.

In addition to this students need to choose programmes they are interested in pursuing prior to selecting the universities offering the desired courses. Contacting the university is the next step as they can provide the list of documents which are essential for the admission process. Some universities might test the students on different abilities based on which they grant admission. Most universities, however, ask for a standard set of documents for processing admission formalities.

Documents Required

Students will require the following documents for the immigration process –

Students can register for the test online and appear for it in their home country.

The evaluation tests are also conducted by concerned universities students want to attend. Students need to submit a written request for taking the test at the university instead.
