How Interviews are as important as written tests?

Now days companies are recruiting their employees after taking the personal test which is known as Viva. So it is important for freshers to prepare for the interview test, learn how to prepare for an interview and find some sample questions for preparing for an interview.

Having cleared the written part of a competitive exam is only half the battle down. The second round-that of personality assessment –remains to be won. And in this round, the fight is amongst equals.

Intensive preparation for the second round should ideally begin immediately after the written test. Students who over-estimate the qualifying marks for the written test ( and there are many of this variety) find themselves unprepared when they see their names in the list of successful candidates.

A good general awareness is instrumental for success in GD's ( group discussions) and interviews. Reading at least two news papers everyday is essential. The focus should be on the editorial section as this contains exhaustive news analysis. Reading divers views on an issue and then deciding one's own stand leads to a distinct performance in group discussions. The necessity of a thorough understanding of issue in forming coherent and well-reasoned views need not be emphasized here. Well reasoned views provide an edge over others in a GD.

What to study for preparing for an Interview?

News magazines and school text books provide good inputs in understanding the genesis of an issue. Newspaper/magazine clippings, which one has collected and filed over months, comes in handy for revisions at this time. An interview is very frequently centered on the facts stated in a candidates' resume. Questions about one's background are almost always asked. If reading has been stated as a hobby, one should be able to name the favorite author/book, what the theme of the book is or what is the writing style of the author?

What may be the expected questions in an Interview?

Questions on one's favorite subject are also commonly asked. It is therefore helpful to have a "favorite subject" and have an in –depth knowledge of it. If travelling is what one has stated as a hobby, an interesting travel account or the name of favorite place and thereon for it may be expected by the interviewers. For those with work experience, the interview more or less revolves around the job content/responsibilities, etc. one has to turn this fact to one's advantage.

Quite a few students are unable to finally make it in spite of doing well in the written part-all because they are caught unawares. So, having sprinted in the first round, do not sleep and let the tortoise overtake you.
