Life in the boarding schools

Study is an important part of life. It will be more effective if we can develop other moral ethics in our children along with their study. So, this is possible only in boarding schools. Students studying in these schools were self-dependent then the other students of their age. Let us have look on different perspectives of a residential school.

Life is a blessing and one should live it in the way he/she wants to live. It starts with the love and care of your mother. A newborn has no fear when he was there with his mother because he knows that this is the safest place in the whole world he can ever had. But after some time when child faces this world he/she has to cross a lot of hurdles and for this he/she should be strong enough to pass them and find a way towards success. This journey starts when child reaches the age of 3-4 years, most of the parents start sending their children to the school for their better education and this was the stepping stone on which they have to construct their own skyscraper and to hold this tight, the stepping stone should be strong enough. So, sending student to boarding schools for the purpose of their education can prove to be a strong stepping stone for their success.

Definition of a boarding school:

Boarding schools are the schools where students study and live with their fellows. These are the home away from their homes where their hostel wardens, seniors and other officials will take care of them.

Most of the children scared of studying in boarding schools and don't want to stay away from their homes. They would like to study in the schools which were nearer to their home town and feel safe and comfortable there but when these children grow older and went out for higher studies then they find a lot of problems in adjusting in new atmosphere and with new peoples outside their home. Some of them which were unable to adapt in new environment and due to this reason they skip their studies and this thing harms them in future.

On the other hand the children who used to study in boarding schools were more independent and later they can easily adapt in new environment when they have to go out for higher studies. At initial stages they accept the challenge of staying away from home and these challenges helps them a lot in rest of their life. They stay away from their home and develop an attitude of self-dependence which stays with them for whole life.

According to me boarding school life is the best way to develop the quality of self-dependence in your children. At very early stages they develop decision making quality and mature thoughts. In these schools students live together and maintain their unity. This is not a punishment, as some children think that their parents don't love them so they were sending them to the boarding school. But those students who got opportunity to study in these schools were the luckiest among all other students and they can mold their future in the way they want to.

Advantages of boarding schools

  • Self-dependence:
Students of boarding schools are more self-dependent then the other children of their age. They perform all their tasks by themselves only. They have to take care of all their belongings and they have to discover solutions for their problems at their own level. This improves their decision making quality.
  • Better academic environment:
Boarding school provides a better academic environment to their students then other students which were not the part of boarding school. They complete their home work at the provided time periods and in Case of any difficulty they can also take the advantage of their seniors and their teachers.
  • Developing an interacting behavior:
Hostel life develops an interacting behavior in the students. All the student of a hostel lives together and interacts with each other. When required, they help each other and maintain a sense of mutualism which can't be seen in other students.
  • Improved communication skills:
Most of the boarding school organizes a lot of academic events on the hostel and class level which improves their communication skills and provides exposure to the students and we all know the importance of communication skills in current scenario.
  • Disciplined life:
Life in a boarding school is much more disciplined then the other schools. Student performs all their activities on the suggested time periods. The authorities in boarding schools are much more responsible than the teachers of other schools.
  • Full on entertainment:
Along with the study students are also encouraged to play sports of their own interests. The students are provided with all the facilities which they require for their entertainment. Students will play their games together in teams and they will also have individual hostel wise team which competes with each other. In these schools children can play their own game and can represent their school in the sport meets and other events.
  • All-round development in the boarding school:
The best part of boarding school life is the all-round develop of students. Along with study and sport, students learn a lot of things in their day to day life. There are many events in the boarding schools after their classes like debates, declamations quizzes and many more. Students take part in these events and prove themselves better than others.
  • Living with friends every-time:
Students in these schools always live their friends, in their hostels, in class–rooms and everywhere. The friends we have in our school-time were there with us for whole life, especially those friends with whom we live, we eat, and we study. Those sweet parts can't be neglected in life because without them this life is taste-less and meaning-less. These friends remain with us for whole life, as friendship is the best relation that can't be explained in words, this is a feeling which can only be felt. No one can expect life without friends and the best one were found in residential schools.
  • Do your work yourself:
Children learn that how to perform their daily activities like washing their clothes, keep their room clean, take care of their belongings etc. this makes them self-dependent but on the other hand children who stays in their homes can't perform their daily activities without the help of their parents.
  • Teachers are available whole-time:
If students find any problem regarding their studies or anything then they can go to their teachers and ask them for a solution anytime. This will help students a lot in finding solutions to their problems mainly studies related problems. Teachers were very frank with students and this is beneficial for the students.

Residential schools in India:

There are lots of good boarding schools in India which provide best education to the children and develop good moral ethics in them. There are lots of private and government schools in India. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is one of the government residential schools which provide free education to the students. These schools are situated in each and every district of India. Students are admitted into these schools on the basis of entrance exam after 5th standard. These residential schools were run by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.

My own experience in the residential school:

Residential schools play an important role in building the independent behavior of a student. I am also a student of Jawaher Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) and lived in hostel from 6th standard to 12th standard. In class 5th after qualifying an entrance exam I am admitted to the JNV Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh) and that was the most memorable day of my life. My parents don't want to send me into the boarding school. They were thinking that I am very young and can't adjust myself in a hostel. They heard a lot of rumors about hostel life, so they were worried. But when I have entered into the campus of my JNV then I have seen a totally new environment there.
Student there were much disciplined their and were very co-operative. I have spent most important and most remember-able seven years of my life there and those seven years were very precious for me. When we left that school all of us (I and my friends) were very sad because that school was like our home. Life in residential school is totally different from others and I think also it is better than them.

At last I want to conclude my article with these words that residential schools provide best education to the children and were the important part of our education system. These schools develop a lot of positives in the students like: self-dependence, decision making quality, emotionally strong, all-round development etc. and these qualities were very essential for a student to become successful in his life. So don't be afraid of studying and staying in the boarding schools as it is awesome living there.
