In this article the counseling and admission procedure in UPTU has been mentioned. The counseling in the course offered by different institutes is made through a common computerized counseling. The counseling procedure is very complicated and needed to be understood first. To understand this procedure candidates sometimes find some difficulty. One should go through all the guidelines given by the council and other experts before going to counseling.
Every year Uttar Pradesh Technical University (recently split into Gautam Buddha Technical University and Mahamaya Technical Universities) conducts UPSEE exams for admissions in different government and private colleges offering graduate and post graduate degrees in various fields. Some of these courses are B.Tech, BCA, BBA, MBA, MCA, B.Arch etc. This year too UPSEE conducted its yearly entrance test in the month of April. The results were recently released at the official UPSEE website for different courses separately on different days. The main question that arises after the results are declared in any exam is that what is the procedure of selection in different colleges through common counseling conducted by the administrative body. Same curiosity occurs when students of UPSEE qualify in the test and wants to know which college he will get according to his rank. The UPTU governing body uses the modern technique of online counseling conducted at the allotted counseling centers of UPTU. The only problem that students face is that most of them are appearing first time for any such counseling and don't have much experience about this procedure of allotment of colleges.Call for counseling:
If you are qualified in your entrance exam of any course you will have a valid rank in UPSEE so you must be receiving a counseling letter call through post which validates you to participate in the online counseling conducted at your desired nearest center.Date of counseling:
The counseling dates for different courses are announced by UPSEE on their official website and also through newspapers. Candidates falling between particular ranks (say 1 to 10000) are called on one day and other sets on other days through notifications given by UPSEE. You must carry all the required bank drafts in the name of the given authority at UPSEE website and must be of the exact amounts.What to do at counseling:
When you are called for counseling by UPTU come on the exact date and at the correct time to cooperate for the conductance of counseling. You must carry the counseling letter; admit card and other required document as mentioned in the guidelines given by the UPSEE. You must be passed in your qualifying exam for appearing in admission procedure.
After reaching the counseling center you must act according to the instructions given by the counseling staff present at the counseling center. For self convenience you must note down the desired colleges name along with their college codes. Since there are many colleges in UPTU with matching or common name you must be careful about the college you are locking. For this you must know the code of the college you want to get yourself admitted.
Well act according to the instructions give and submit all the required documents at the counseling center. Do not forget any necessary document at your home otherwise you can suffer in the admission or counseling. For this it is better to make a checklist. It is very important to keep in mind that you are a candidate same as the other candidates and you shall not be given any privilege or any relief. Procedure of counseling:
When your name will be called you must appear at the time for convenience. When you enter the counseling hall you will be made seated on a computer with a window open. The window will display the names and codes of all colleges affiliated to UPTU (GBTU+MTU). You can choose any of your desired college according to your convenience from the list generated at the window open in front of you. If you are not too expert about the computer then you can take assistance of the staffs present inside the counseling room.
If you don't like any college you can leave the list as it is and withdraw yourself from counseling. In such case some part of money paid to in the form of bank draft will be refunded to you. But this procedure is only valid if you don't lock any college. If you lock even one college then the money will not be given to you back.
If you are desperate about choosing any college in your desired branch it is always better option to lock as many colleges. There will be no extra charge for locking multiple colleges so you can lock many. Keep in mind that your probability of getting college increases in such case.
The one fact to be remembered is that it is not guaranteed that if you lock a seat in a particular college it will be named to you. This is because the same seat and college availability is displayed at the same time throughout the state at the same time. So if a person with a better rank than you from somewhere else locks the same seat then he will be given more priority.
So no need to feel unsatisfied with the system or no need to mess up with the staff because it is nothing in their hand about your selection of particular colleges. Note that the deserving ones are given priority through this computerized counseling. So if you have a good rank then you can be sure about your desired college. Even if you have a decent score in UPSEE you can get a good college as there are many institutions affiliated to UPTU which are well reputed in terms of academics and placement.
After locking you can take the instructions from the counselor and after confirmed that your counseling procedure is over you can leave the center. Generally you will get the confirmation of college the next day. For this you have to visit the center again and ask for your confirmation letter. Though this confirmation letter you will come to know about which college among all that you have locked you have been allotted.
This procedure of counseling is clear and easily approachable. There is very less chance of flaw and everyone can get the desired college which he wants. Also candidates can lock the colleges keeping in mind all the factors such as fee structure, conveyance facility, hostel charges or the faculty and branches desired.Admission in college:
You have to reach the allotted college with the confirmation letter and other necessary documents. There is a certain time limit for the admission procedure so you must approach the college in time. After the admission is over and all the fees have been paid you are eligible to attend the classes in your desired course in that college. When the classes commence you can join them and you can enjoy your classes.
