How to choose right area to do project in mechanical engineering

The main question which arise in the minds of all students who are entering final year is what project are we going to do. I have shared my experience and suggested some ways, which i think helpful to you.

Confused about how to choose a project title?

To my juniors

To all my mechanical brothers. I'am glad to call you as brothers. A relation which only mechanical students can only understood, the feeling when other departments guys move away when we walk along the classrooms. They way principal, H.O.D leave us undisturbed thinking its trouble to mess with them, that is mechanical engineering boys specialty in each and every college.

Lets get in to subject

Though we enjoyed more than other departments in the final year there come the project, which decides degree and influences greatly the selection of our resume during campus interviews.

We will have staffs to guide to help us during the project. But they will ask us to select the project title and desired field. The only hope left for us is the literature on various fields. We begged staffs searched our senior to get idea. But couldn't get a worthy title.

By the time i found the step to do the project it came the time for final review. I want to share those with you

Steps to follow

Select the area of interest

Every individual has a special interest in particular field. For example some may like to read novels, some to hear music. Each individual is unique. when we come to our mechanical engineering we have various fields like thermal, fluid mechanics, design CAD CAM, strength of materials, dynamics of machinery, automobile engineering and so on. There is no condition that every one should like all or a particular field. We know what are the field we have interest and we are good in. So choose that area as field of interest.

Go through previous journals

We have lots of publications which publish resent research papers. You need not go through all. If you are interested in fluid dynamics you select that particular area. By doing so you will get an idea of what they have done and what are the ways it can be done better. In every project report conclusion they will have stated what are the things which haven't done by them. We could choose it and finish it

Selecting the topic

You would have got a better understanding now. You choose a particular topic on which you are going to do the project. Go through the previous projects on that topic.Have 3 options of topics. But discussing it with your guide you can confirm the topic.

Finding ways to proceed

Let take if you want to go from your home to a shop near by there may be numerous ways of going. But we choose the shortest favorable way , right ? Like the same way we should choose the most favorable way to proceed in the project. You may now get the doubt how will i find the favorable way. It can get from our professor's guide lines or by studying various literature's.

study material related to it

Get clear knowledge about all the technical terms definitions formulas previous projects about the project. It will help us during project presentation and reviews.

Calculations

Every project has calculation. We can say there is no project with out calculations. Put a separate note and note down the formulas used. Do all the calculations on your own and note in carefully on it.

Analyse the result

The results obtained by the project is compared with previous report and the developments is calculated. Some will think my idea didn't work out will my project be rejected or useless. Don't worry brother you have found a way that won't worry. It will be helpful for upcoming students. They wont try in that way.

Conclusion

This is very important part and should be carefully prepared. Because what have you done in the whole project and its results are should here only. Any tabulations, graphs are placed here.

I hope these information will be a little useful to you.

Hi. Aravindhan P.T
I am also from same field and dong PhD. I have also submitted same topic article. Thanks for clarifying the same topics to all new comers in Mechanical engineering field. Your article will help them a lot. Your article will be more attractive if you use basic html tags given in Help topics. Use it properly and get article more in attractive form. Thus response from members and editors will be huge.

You can still improve this article before it is reviewed by editor.

Include image in the resource by using attachment options. Upload the image and select URL out of three URLs given when you finished uploading. Copy paste the second URL and put inside of resource text where you want to place the URL.

1. Read this URL

http://www.indiastudychannel.com/guidelines/2699.aspx

2. Convert main heading to h2 for confused about how to choose a project title, steps to precede a project from beginning to end and last Conclusion.

3. Make all other sub title to h3 tags. Text size will be decreased if you go from h1, h2 and below.

4. Make use of proper keyword so that people can come from search by Google to read your article.
E.g. title as 'Mango' put it as 'colours and size of mango', 'Type of mango' and etc.

And you can also refine you article like.
A. Select the area of interest in Mechanical Engineering
B. Study material related to Project idea or field
Etc. You will learn all these once you spend more time on visiting articles; you can visit my articles,
