MG University New grading Traps

This review will focus on the main problems faced by students whose college is affiliated with Mg university Kerala when their semester results come out in the "grading form". If you follow the article you will understand how to be on the safer side while doing a degree course under MG university

MG University came up with a new grading system in 2010. A grading system under which the students thought that passing in a semester exam is very simple comparing any other university exams. The students were tricked into this false assumption when the university guidelines came out stating that only 13 marks out of 100 is required to pass in a particular exam. That means scoring "D" grade for any subject will earn a pass mark for the student. So students started to take the exams very lightly. Little only they knew that the big trouble s just about to follow them.
Even though you will pass an exam scoring D grade (which is quite a relief for many of the low ranked students) does not end your trouble of passing the degree. To know ore about this you have to know the grading system.
Grading system for a semester exam is as follows:-
A grade - Excellent 4 points (87.5-100 marks)
B grade - Very Good 3 points (62.5-87.49 marks)
C grade - Good 2 points (37.5-62.49 marks)
D grade - Average 1 point (12.5-37.49 marks)
E grade - Poor 0 point (00.0-12.49 marks)

But the real trap in this is that the scale which is considered to pass the exam is not this one. There is an even more advanced scale. That scale is as follows:-
A+ - 95 - 100
A - 87.5 - 94.9
B+ - 75 - 87.49
B - 62.5 - 74.9
C+ - 50 - 62.49
C - 37.5 - 49.9
D - 25 - 37.49
E - Less than 24.9

When you add the total of all the grades earned in the all the semesters and then you will have to divide it with the number of semesters. After that you get your total grade point. Now the real problem begins here.
1. If you get C grade - you will pass for the degree course but you are not eligible to go for higher studies. And the biggest set back is that you're not even allowed to take the improvement exams and there be stuck in situation for ever [imagine the situation where you get 49.9 grade point, where you can't go for a higher study nor you can try to improve it ]

2. If you get D grade - You neither have passed the degree nor you can apply for any higher studies. The only relief is that you can take improvement exams and try to make up the marks you want to attain.

3. If you get C+ - You are eligible for higher studies

So the main problem is that many students thought 13 marks can see the home and ended up getting C grade and is stuck there for ever where they cant do anything to get a second chance.

So, I advise all the students who have joined in any college under MG university to take up their studies very seriously and try to get more than 50% for all their exams and be always on the safer side than regretting at the end.

dear Mainul,
This grading system is only applicable for MG university kottayam (kerala). I don't know whether any other university follows this pattern.
