In this current Arena, women are placing foot prints in almost all the field from education till industry. And they are becoming CEO (chief executive officers) in their respective field of interest. There are many women entrepreneurs who are working as a CEO in different domain, but here I am taking a chance to give information, their lifestyle, and their achievement of few top Indian women CEO who had attracted me with their entrepreneur style.

Chanda Kochhar


Chandra Konchar born in 1961 and current she is the CEO for the biggest chain of private bank- ICICI bank in India. She was born in Jodhpur and had her schooling in Jaipur; later for acquiring higher education she joined Jaihind College of arts and science which is located in Mumbai. After her studies she joined ICICI bank in 1984 as a management trainee, during the initial days due to lack of computer all the computations are calculated by pen and paper and chanda is in charge of recruitment, checking revenue shares etc. In 1994, she became got promoted as a general manager and later she got promoted to Deputy Manager and Manager respectively. At last in 2009 she was appointed as a chief executive officer for more than 5 years. She got married to Deepak, who is also an entrepreneur in wind energy domain and also her school mare. She is having two kids and considered as best mom. She was awarded as a Padmabooshan award in 2010 for her continuous effort in the field of banking domain. She is also responsible for much policy change which helped the public during the inflation. She is considered as top 20 women in the entrepreneur ship.

Shahnaz Hussain

The one lady who conquers the world of Indian cosmetics is Shahnaz. Shahnaz is currently managing Shahnaz herbals as a single pioneer and considered as a CEO for Shahnaz herbal India. She had her education and higher education in Lucknow. After her marriage, unfortunately her husband got posted in Iraq so she started having courses related to beautician and started manufacturing many herbal products which attracted lot of people cross nation. There are lots of products released by Shahnaz which is solely managed by Shahnaz Hussain. She maintains quality and the nominal cost for each and every product which is best suitable for Indian citizen. Later on she opened many spa which uses her product that attracts lot of people and she started exporting these products to Arab nation where earned popularity.

Kiran Mazumdar

Kiran was born on 1953 and she is based from Bangalore. She had her education in bishop cotton girl's school and had her graduation in bachelors of zoology. She had her higher education as brew master in Melbourne and later she joined Biocon Biochemical Limited in 1978. And currently she is working as CEO of the Biocon organization . She made lot of research on diabetes, oncology and other non-curable diseases and placed a step stone in bio- pharmaceutical industry. Her research cured many people. She had received lot of awards in this pharmaceutical industry. Later she was awarded padmabooshan and padmasree award in 1989 and 2005 respectively.

Akhila Srinivasan

Akhila Srinivasan was born and brought up in Chennai. Currently she is considered as a prominent woman who is currently working as a CEO of group of Shriram Investments Ltd. She had helped in expanding the organization from 500 crore business unit to 5000 crore organization. With her chartered accountant skill, she developed the organization and projected as a high profit organization. In one of the business today magazine she expressed like she devotes almost 70-80% of her time with the organization and rest of her time she devotes to the charity. She is also running a school for poor where there is no fee and the student gets high quality education. And also college for the poor and needy to get higher education. For this she had also received outstanding women award which is given by Federation of Indian chambers of commerce and Industry (FICCI).

Jyoti Naik


Jyoti nayak was born in 1970 and she is from Colombia and she had her education from Columbia. Later she started her journey in India. She started a Lajit Papad company in a very small scale by having partners with 7 women. Later they started 2-3 branches in the same city and currently she is working as a CEO of Mahila Griha udyog Lijjat Papad which is mainly organized to employee women employee. She provides employment and help in managing the life of many Indian women. Initially she started this business as a small scale and now the profit of this organization is 639 crore per annum. She employees more than 40000 employees in which majority are women and she expanded her business to conquer more than 65+ branches across India. She is the considered as a best idol among the women employees or her hard work and innovative idea. She is also awarded as a best Indian business woman for the year 2001-2002 for her confidence is managing the whole organization solely.

Ekta Kapoor


Ekta kapoor is considered as a young CEO. She was born in 1975. She had her schooling and higher education in Mumbai. Her father is Jeetendra, who is also working in film industry. Many a times she is inspired by her father and currently she is working as a CEO of balaji telefilms by composing and producing many serials, and almost all her serials are released by Zee television or star television. Later she stepped her stone in movies. Her one of the famous picture is dirty picture which describes about the other side of the actor and their difficulties in their career. Her other two famous creations are one upon a time in Mumbai and shor in the city which revealed her identity to the public world. She received n number of awards every year starting from 2001. In 2012 she was awarded great women award and Asia'a social empowerment award and Lions gold award. She is also considered as most successful women in Indian society at the very early age.

Aruna Jayanthi

Aruna was born in 1964, and she had her education and higher studies in Member. She joined Capgemini in 2001. And now Aruna is currently working as a CEO of Capgemini. She is the sole responsible person for technology, services and consulting. I am feeling very proud to include her in the list because two years before I work for cap Gemini. The company is wide spread and having around 18-20 branches worldwide. There are lots of business units, and each business unit is controlled by different directors. And the three Agenda driven by her was leadership development and to develop a proper transformation between HR and business and third one is to build a common culture as 'one Capgemini' which can take the company to a highest profitable organization.

Vanitha Narayanan


She started her career with IBM and reached the heights of CEO level with IBM with her 25 years of her experience. Her first promotion was becoming the vice president in telecom domain and starting from this year – 2013 Vanitha narayanan is appointed as new CEO of IBM (international business Machine Corporation) and currently she is based in Bangalore. Over the past 25 years of her operational experience she had contacts with many groups like GE, Philips, and Wipro etc. She is solely responsible for sales, revenue generation, marketing the products and other delivery operation sector. And this company has more than one lakhs employees all around the world. And this is considered as one of the best companies to work with especially for women employees because though women works in IT, flexible timings and other recognition are given especially for women employees. And Vanitha had changed lot of policies which will help many women employees like providing extended maternity leave for the benefit of women employees, flexible timing etc.

Apart from this many other women entrepreneurs like Indira Krishnamurthy Noovi who is the CEO for Pepsi Corporation, Pretha reddy Managing director and founder for chain of Apolo hospital, Ekta Kapoor head creative of balaji telefilms are also considered as top CEO of India. It's very difficult to provide the criteria of top five women CEO because; almost all the above mentioned women excel in one or the other field.

On the occassion of the Womens day lets all promise to help the not so previliged women of the country so that they can also live a life with respect and pride.
