Anna University, Chennai invites application for admission in 2-years Master of Science (M.Sc) and Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) programmes in different disciplines offered by various departments of the Anna University for the academic year 2013-14. Last date to apply for the programme is April 17, 2013.

Anna University, set up in Chennai was established in the year 1978. The University imparts education in the field of Allied sciences, engineering and technology. At present time, 426 Self-financing Engineering Colleges, six Government Colleges and three Government-aided Engineering colleges located in various parts of Tamilnadu State are affiliated through Anna University.
M.Sc programmes offered by Anna University, Chennai
The duration of the M.Sc. programme is two years( four semesters). The University offers M.Sc. programmes in eight disciplines mentioned below.

The M.Phil programmes offered by Anna University is full time programme. The duration of the course is one year. M.Phil programmes are being offered in six field mentioned below.

Eligibility Criteria For M.Sc. programmes
The Candidates should possess Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline from a recognized university.
Candidates in the final year of graduation are also eligible to apply for M.Sc. programme.
Eligibility Criteria For M.Phil programmes
The candidate should have done post graduation in the relevant field from a recognized University.
Selection procedure
The selection of the candidates , who have applied for M.Sc programmes(group A-H) and M.Phil programmes, will have to appear in the entrance test which shall be conducted by Anna University.
The candidates who have applied for admission in Computational Biology programme, will have to appear the Common entrance test to be conducted by Pondicherry University.
The short listing will be based on the merit of marks obtained in entrance exam.
A common merit list will be prepared for candidates applying for M.Sc. Electronic Media and M.Sc. Science and Technology Communication courses.
Pattern of Entrance test for M.Sc. programmes
A separate examination will be held for all the paper i.e. Mathematics, Physics , Chemistry , Geology , Media Science ,and Environmental Science.
The paper will have 100 multiple choice questions. Negative marking will be done for wrong answers.
The duration of the examination is 2 hours.

Pattern of Entrance test for M.Phil. programmes
A separate examination will be held for all the paper i.e. Mathematics, Physics , Chemistry , Geology and English
All the papers, except English will have 60 multiple choice questions. English paper will consist of objective as wll essay type questions. Negative marking will be done for wrong answers.
The duration of the examination is one hour.

Attested copies class XII / H.Sc. Mark Sheet
Attested copies of Degree Certificate or Provisional Degree certificate. (Candidates appearing in final year of the Qualifying Degree exam in April / May 2013 have to enclose a bonafide certificate from the Head of the Institution where the candidate is studying)or attested photocopy of the admit card University Examination April / May 2013.
Attested copies of mark sheets of all the semesters / consolidated mark sheet of Qualifying Examination completed.
Attested copy of Permanent Community Certificate issued by the competent authority for candidates belonging to BC / BCM / MBC / SC / SCA / ST .
Medical Certificate for Differently abled person (if applicable)
Nativity Certificate (if applicable)
Three self addressed envelopes of size (26.5cm x 11cm) with stamp of 8/- each for sending Hall Ticket, Mark Sheet and Counseling Call Letter.
Attested photocopies of Post graduate Degree Certificate or Provisional Degree Certificate. (Candidates appearing in final year of the Qualifying PG Degree examination in April / May 2013 have to enclose a bonafide certificate from the Head of the Institution where the candidate is studying) or attested photocopy of the admit card of University Examination April/May 2013.(applicable to candidates applying for M.Phil programmes)
Application procedure
Online registration of the programme starts from March 25, 2013. Complete the registration process and take the printout of application form.
Draw a demand draft of Rs 700(Rs. 350/- or SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu) in favor of The Director (Admissions), Anna University payable at Chennai. The demand draft should be drawn on or after March 24, 2013. The candidate should have the demand draft with them at the time of registration.
Send the completely filled application form along with the supporting documents and demand draft at following address before April 17, 2013. "The Director(Admissions), Anna University, Chennai – 600025".
