Indian Maritime University (IMU) has invited application for various under graduates(UG) and post graduate(PG) courses for the academic year. Indian Maritime University
Indian Maritime University is a central University established in the year 2008. IMU has established campuses in six different cities: Chennai, Cochin, Kandla Port , Kolkata, Mumbai and Visakhapatnam. Apart from this, 38 maritime institutions are affiliated to it. The maritime studies programme offered by the University has been designed to provide excellent knowledge in the field of oceanography, logistics, transportation, maritime history and law and other areas. After the completion of studies, the students can develop their career as manager in shipping, port or other infrastructure sector.

Salient features of the various programmes
DNS, B.Sc., B.Tech and M.Tech programmes are residential.
MBA and LL.M programmes are non-residential.
All candidates have to present medical fitness certificate issued by medical officer of Directorate General of shipping.
Fee structure for different programmes
Annual fees for B.Sc programmes and diploma in nautical sciences is Rs. 2,20,000 for male candidates and 1,40,500 for female candidates.
Annual fees for B.Tech programmes is Rs. 2,25,000 for male cadets and 1, 43,000 for female cadets.
Annual fees for M.Tech programme is Rs. 2, 25,000 for both male and female candidates.
Annual fees for MBA and LL.M programme is Rs. 2, 00,000 for all the candidates.
Annual fees for PG Diploma in Marine Engineering is Rs. 3, 00,000
Eligibility criteria
The candidate should have passed qualifying examination in the first attempt in the year 2012. The candidates appearing for the qualifying examination before September 30, 2013 can also apply
Candidates applying for DNS and B.Sc. programme should be unmarried.
Candidates applying for under graduate course (B.Sc./B.Tech)should have scored minimum 60% marks in 10+2 with PCM and English as a compulsory subject.
Candidates applying for M.Tech course should have secured minimum of 60% marks in relevant field.
Candidates applying for MBA programme should have passed graduation in any discipline with at least 50% marks.
Candidates applying for LL.M course should have done graduation in law and have secured minimum of 50% marks.
Application procedure
Download the bank challan from the official website of Indian Maritime University.
Make the payment at any branch of State Bank of India. The cost of application form is Rs. 1000(General) and Rs. 700(SC/ST) category.
Fill the application form online. Remember to have scanned copy of the photograph while filling the application form. Provide the necessary details correctly and upload the photograph.
Take out the printout of the application form.
Send the application form enclosed with supporting documents and institution copy of bank challan at the following address:

Last date for receipt of duly filled application form at the specified address is May 10, 2013.

Photocopy of caste certificate(applicable to SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer) Category and DA
Photocopy of certificate of class X/equivalent examination to support the proof of age.
Photocopy of class 10+2 pass certificate and marks sheet.

Candidates appearing the qualifying exam should present the document at time of counseling.
Selection procedure
All the candidates will have to appear for common entrance test( CET 2013).
On the basis of CET score, the selected candidates will be called for counseling/group discussion/ personal interview(as applicable).
Important dates
Last date for receipt of application form is May 10, 2013.
Admit cards can be downloaded from May 25, 2013 onwards.
Scheduled dates for CET 2013 is June 1, 2013.
Group discussion and personal interview is scheduled to be held on June 21 and 22, 2013
Counseling of under graduate programmes will be done between 3rd-8th July, 2013
Commencement of classes begins on August 1, 2013.
