IIT Gandhinagar: Admission in M.Sc (Cognitive Science) for next academic year

IIT Gandhinagar has introduced the new programme at post graduate level i.e M.Sc in Cognitive Science from the year 2013. Interested candidates who have passed graduation in any stream can apply for the programme. Last date to apply is April 30, 2013.

Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) has been established in the year 2008. At present, IITGN is operating from Vishwakarma Government Engineering College located in Chanrakheda. The main campus will be developed in Gandhinagar and is under development process. The institute offers B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph. D. programmes in various disciplines. The infrastructure, laboratory, library, and other facilities are excellent.

M.Sc in Cognitive Science

Cognitive science is study of cognition, brain and its behavior, linguistic, artificial intelligence, anthropology, neurosciences, psychology, and philosophy. The various experiments and research being done through different methods on different aspects have been helpful in establishing cognitive science as a true inter disciplinary science. The post graduate programme in cognitive science offers research techniques and knowledge which students can use in different areas of cognitive science.

Features of M.Sc( Cognitive Science) programme

The duration of the programme is two years and divided in four semesters.

It is a credit based programme with total of 80 credits.

The programme will cover the course work as well as research work. The research project has to be submitted for M.Sc. degree award.

Eligible candidates will be provided a scholarship of Rs. 5000 every month.

Students who would present their research work at national and international conferences would be provided travel compensation up to Rs. 60,000.

Educational qualification

Candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree in any discipline (B.A., B.Sc, B.Com, B.Tech). Candidate appearing in the final year of under graduate course are also eligible to apply. General and OBC candidates should have secured minimum of 55% marks or CGPA of 5.5 in under graduate programme. SC/ST and PD candidates have relaxation of 5% marks in 10+2+3/4 degree.

All applications have to be submitted online through the official website of IIT Gandhinagar. There is no need to submit hardcopy of application form or documents. Visit the admission section for more details about the programme.

Admission and selection procedure

Candidates need to submit the application form by April 30, 2013. After scrutinizing all the applications, a limited number of candidates will be called for written test and interview. Academic records will be used for inviting candidates for written test and interview. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of academic records, aptitude for cognitive science, written test and interview. The selected candidates will have to carry hardcopy of application form and with photograph and original documents (testimonials, certificates, publications, work experience and research experience) at the time of interview.
