My first technical interview experience at Nirma Limited for Bhavnagar , Kalatalav Plant.
In this article, I will give you the information about my first technical interview at Nirma Limited (Owner Dr. Karsanbhai K. Patel). The Company visited our campus for campus placement drive.The selection process included the Technical Test and after that three rounds of interview.First Personal interview was at our campus and other two were at Bhavnagar and Ahmedabad. Introduction
It got its name after karsanbhai Patel named the powder as Nirma, after his daughter Nirupama. Nirma got started manufacturing one product in 1969 and it became successful within three decades.
Nirma Limited (Nirma) was established as a private limited company on 25th February 1980. Nirma Limited is the company having Market Cap 4,068.41(Rs. in Cr.). Nirma limited is manufacturing basically two types of products, One is Consumer Products and Second is Industrial Products.The consumer range of products include:

First of all the delegates from Nirma Limited were welcomed at our institute. Then the placement process started. All the participating candidates were given the forms to fill up the personal and educational details.
In first round of selection a technical test was arranged. The technical test included the questions based on basics of engineering. After attending the technical test the students scoring above the cut-off were called for the first personal interview at our campus. The following are the questions asked in the written technical test.I tried to Remember the questions after the technical test:

The students shortlisted in the technical test were called on for first round of personal interview on the same day. In personal interview also the questions were asked on basics. The questions were mainly related to boilers and pumps. The following are the some of the questions asked in the interview.

9) what happens when the temp. of boiler increases very high ? what is provided to avoid it?? (safety valve)The second round of interview at Bhavnagar Kalatalav plant and Medical Check up
The students shortlisted in the first round of interview at the campus were called on for the second round of interview at Bhavnagar plant, Kalatalav.
We were provided the to and fro travelling allowance for attending the interview.They took us to their main office and we sat in the waiting room and they gave us the form to provide travelling allowance.After waiting for 3 hours our interview got started. My turn was second and I was feeling good to give my second round of personal interview. The interview was mainly to check our technical knowledge.The panel consisted of two persons.
They asked me to introduce myself and what do you mean by mechanical enginneering?
I explained generally about the mechanical engineering and answered him that the mechanical engineering is used in our everyday in day to day life sarting from moning we use brush and toothpaste (how these things are manufactured?). Then While going to college we use transportation (Automobile). Then next question was asked.
Then they asked me my cpi rating out of 10. And asked me what is your rank in the class?
Me: I am at the 3rd position in my class.
Then they said you are having good percentage of marks would not you like to pursue MBA?
Me: no.
They asked why?
Me: I am not interested.I would like to work in industry and get some experience.
Then the interview ended

19.Why floating air fan is required?
20.Explain technically how to differentiate Diesel and water filled together in a glass.
21.What is material of bearing.
22.What new thing you did after taking admission and pursuing mechanical engineering?
23.How did you help your father practically by studying mechanical engineering.
After the completion of technical interview our medical check up was done.The check up was intended to know whether we have suffered any major disease or not. And they took readings for Blood Pressure.
After one hour of medical check up the results were declared and I was shortlisted for the final HR interview.I was happy.The final HR interview at Ahmedabad
The final interview was to be attended at the head office at Nirma House, Ashram Road, Ahmedabad. The students shortlisted in technical interview at bhavnagar were called at ahmedabad for final HR interview. In the final round the shortlisted students of three colleges were called. After waiting for 3 hours i.e. completing registration process the interview started. The panel consisted of two persons.
Before the final interview one of my good friend suggested not to get worried or hypertensed and also suggested me to chant god's name if I got worried to keep the mind calm. Although I was not tensed but accepted the suggestion given by my friend, and it really helped.
My turn came and I knocked the door and asked their permission to enter.
The first question asked was to introduce yourself? I introduced myself in a good way by telling my education qualification, about my family background and my interests.
The second question : Tell me about your weakness.
I was blank for a moment but got the answer and said that I am a workalholic person. I do not take up any new work until one thing gets done.
And finally they asked me four to five questions about my final year project and interview got completed with that.
Then we were waiting for the results. The results were to be declared after the completion of interview of all the candidates. After 1 hour the results were declared and I was very happy to know that I got selected. From our college me and my collegue got selected.
We were mailed the call letters at our home and now we have to join at the bhavnagar plant as a GET on or before 1st july.
