M.Tech admission at Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University(PDPU), Gujarat

Applications for admission in M.Tech programmes in various disciplines have been invited by Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online for M.Tech programme by May 26, 2013.

Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University

Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University(PDPU) was established in the year 2007 by GERMI. This is a private University and has been set up with the mission to promote education and research in energy, especially in the oil and gas sector. The University has six different schools which offer under-graduation, post-graduation and doctoral programs in field of management, engineering and technology.

Salient Features of M.Tech programmes

  1. Duration: The duration of the course is two years and is divided in four semester.

  2. Fees: The total fees of the entire course is Rs. 2,51,500. This includes refundable deposit of Rs. 13,000 which is to be paid in the first semester at the time of admission. The fees to be paid in first and second year is Rs. 1,27,000 and Rs. 1,24,000 respectively. For more details, refer to the prospectus.

  3. Fellowship: Candidates having valid GATE score will be eligible for fellowship of Rs. 7500 per month. The admitted candidates ( with or without GATE score) will also be receive teacher assistantship of Rs. 7500 per month in the first year. This will depend on the need of the University.

M.Tech Programmes being offered by the University

  1. M. Tech. in Petroleum Engineering
    Qualifying examination: Candidate should have passed B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent in any of the following discipline: Petroleum Engineering, Petrochemical Engineering, Petroleum Refinery Engineering, Chemical Technology, Chemical Engineering or Mining Engineering.
    Candidate should have passed M.Sc. or M.Sc. Tech in Applied Geophysics, Applied Geology or Petroleum Geology with Mathematics as a subject.

  2. M. Tech. in Nuclear Engineering
    Qualifying examination: Candidate should have passed B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent in Electronics /Electrical/ Mechanical / Civil / Instrumentation and Control/ Metallurgical / Chemical / Industrial or Production Engineering
    Candidate should have passed M.Sc. in Physics, Nuclear Physics or Electronics.

  3. M. Tech. in Energy Systems & Technology (Focused on Solar Energy)
    Qualifying examination: Candidate should have passed B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent in Electronics/ Semiconductor Technology / Mechanical/ Electrical/ Instrumentation and Control/ Energy Science & Engineering.
    Candidate should have passed M.Sc. in Applied Physics/ Physics/ Electronics or Optoelectronics

  4. M. Tech. in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems)
    Qualifying examination: Candidate should have passed B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent in Electrical/ Instrumentation and Control/ Mechanical/ Energy Science and Engineering.

  5. M. Tech. in Mechanical Engineering(Thermal)
    Qualifying examination: Candidate should have passed B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent in Mechanical or Energy Science and Engineering.

  6. M. Tech. in Civil Engineering (Infrastructure Engineering & Management)
    Qualifying examination: Candidate should have passed B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent Civil Engineering/ Environmental Engineering / Construction Technology/Planning.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidate should have passed the qualifying examination with minimum of 60% marks or CPI of 6.5 out of 10 point scale. Candidates in the final year of the qualifying examination, who expect the declaration of result by August 31, 2013 can also apply for the programme.

Application process

The candidates are required to apply online for the programme. At the time of registration, the candidate should have scanned digital photograph of not more than 200kb. The application fee for the single programme is Rs. 1500. A candidate can apply for various discipline. Last date to apply online for the programme is May 26, 2013.

Selection Process

The selection of candidates will be based on the common written aptitude test followed by interview. The written aptitude test(WAT) is scheduled to be held on June 3, 2013. The candidates shortlisted in the WAT will have to appear for personal interview. The final merit list will be prepared on the scores obtained in written aptitude test and personal interview. The weightage for both WAT and interview is 50% of the score. The final merit list will be announced on June 5, 2013.

Pattern of written aptitude test

The written aptitude will be based on the syllabus of GATE exam for General Engineering(http://www.gate.iitb.ac.in/gate2013/xe-syllabus/) and Life sciences(http://www.gate.iitb.ac.in/gate2013/xl-syllabus/). It will consist of multiple choice questions. The duration of the exam will be two hours.

  2. Date and time of written aptitude test: June 3, 2013 (10 AM – 12 noon)

  3. Date and time of personal interview: June 3, 2013, from 2.15 PM onwards (can be extended to June 4, 2013)

  5. Declaration of final merit list: June 5, 2013

  6. Last date for payment of first semester fees and confirmation of admission: June 12, 2013

  7. Commencement of classes: July 2, 2013
