University of Delhi has invited applications for admission in M.Tech programme in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology for the academic year 2013-14. This article provides the eligibility criteria, admission procedure, fee, important dates, scholarship and other details, important to apply for M.Tech course in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology offered by Delhi University.

University of Delhi, New Delhi invites applications from the eligible candidates for admission into M.Tech in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology for the session 2013-14. Last date for receipt of completely filled application form is 28th June, 2013.

University of Delhi


University of Delhi is one of the premier Universities of India. The University came to existence in the year 1922. At the time of inception, only three colleges existed in Delhi and they affiliated to the University. And at present, 77 colleges are affiliated to it. It is one of the largest Universities of India. The high standards of teaching and research are main attraction of the University and therefore, scholars from different part of world desire to join the faculty. The University offers 86 different academic departments under 16 faculties. Five among these departments namely Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Sociology and History have received the status of Centres of Advanced Studies.

Features of M.Tech in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology


Nanoscience and Nanotechnology is one of the fast=developing research area. It is an interdisciplinary area of study which sits of convergence of several disciplines i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Computer Science. It is necessary to have a good understanding of all the disciplines to understand the various applications of nanoscience and the related nanomaterials. Realizing the importance and growth of this new discipline in the upcoming days, University of Delhi launched the new course i.e. M.Tech in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. The course is jointly offered by Department of Physics & Astrophysics and Department of Chemistry under Faculty of Science, University of Delhi.
  1. Duration: The duration of the course is three years. The entire course is divided in six semesters.

  2. Number of seats: Total number of seats available for the programme is 15.

  3. Reservation: 15% of seats are reserved for SC/ST and 5% seats for the children/widows of armed forces personnel. Reservation for OBC candidates will be as per University's rule.

  4. Fee : The fees to be deposited for each semester is Rs. 6115.

  5. Scholarship: Scholarship of Rs. 3000 per month will be provided to selected students. The scholarship shall be sponsored by Department of Science and Technology , Government of India or from University of Delhi


Eligibility criteria


  1. To seek admission in M.Tech Nanoscience and Nanotechnology course, the candidate must qualify the Joint Admission Test (JAM -2013) for M.Sc.(Physics/Chemistry) being conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs). Apart from this, few seats are available for candidates who qualify entrance test for admission in M.Sc. programme conducted by University of Delhi.

  2. Candidate should have secured minimum aggregate of 60% marks in Bachelor's Degree with Physics/Chemistry/Electronics. Reserved category candidates have relaxation of 5% marks.

  3. Candidate must have pursued and completed one year course in Mathematics

  4. Candidates who have passed post graduation or are appearing in the final year of PG are not eligible for the programme.


Selection and application procedure


Selection of the candidates will be based solely on the performance of interview.

To apply for the M.Tech programme in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, download the application form from official website of University of Delhi. Send the filled application form, along with demand draft of Rs. 250 drawn in favour of 'The Registrar, University of Delhi payable at Delhi' and supporting documents at the following mentioned address on or before June 28, 2013 ( by 4.00 pm).

  2. Mark-sheet of JAM 2013 Exam OR Proof of rank in M.Sc.Entrance Exam, conducted by Delhi University

  3. Attested photocopy of mark sheets and certificates of B.Sc. (H)/B.Sc. (Gen.)./Others Examination

  4. Attested photocopy of certificate of class X and XII/ 10+2 or equivalent examination. (For Date of Birth proof)

  5. Attested photocopy of Character Certificate from the College last attended.

  6. Two copies of duly attested SC/ST Certificate (if applicable).

  3. Display of list of shortlisted candidates for interview: July 5, 2013

  4. Date of interview: July 16, 2013

  5. Declaration of result and first admission list: July 19, 2013

  6. Declaration of second admission list(if seats are vacant): July 24, 2013
