Overview of HIET
HIET is offering admissions into Aviation courses, Diploma courses and Skill development programs for the current academic year. This is the 115th batch for AME courses and it has over 45 years of training excellence.
Hindustan Institution of Engineering and Technology was established in 1996 in Chennai. It is run under HETC educational society and registered as a Technical education under the society of Act, XXI of 1860. It is conducting diploma courses in computers, automobile and computer technology courses. The members who are studies in HIET they are working in various national and international departments.
Laboratories and Workshops at HIET
The student will have 5 labs in any year. Physics, Chemistry and General English are the 3 labs common to all. The labs are changed based on the branches. Other labs of HIET are: Mechanics lab, Materials lab, Aircraft electricity and Engines lab, Instruments lab, Basic workshops lab, Diesel lab etc.
Building Blocks
All administrations are taken within the main branch. Students can admit based in their choices in the branch. Main block is the MGR- block. In this, all the classes are conducted. In the ground floor special occasions will be conducted. It is used as a auditorium.
Hostel Accommodation
Hostel and lodging facilities are available inside and outside the campus for boys. These are discussed at the time of admission. During the college hours catering facility is available for both staff and students.
Library
The library has more than 6000 books related to courses and other books like current affairs, magazines, news papers and books etc. To access the books, students should apply for library cards.

HIET Aviation College was approved by DGCA, Govt. of India and it is an ISO 9001-2008 certified institution. For AME, it is the 115th batch.
The courses offered under the Aviation college are:Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (A.M.E - 3 years)
Aircraft maintenance course is gaining popularity because of the huge boom in aviation industry. A person who has interest in elementary work, servicing and manufacturing process of aircraft then he/she should go for it.
Duration : 3 years with 6 semesters
Eligibility Criteria : The person should have passed in 10+2 with min. 55% and mathematics, physics and chemistry and proficiency in English are suitable for this course and the person should not have any physical disabilities.
Program Description : This course includes basic subjects and program oriented subjects. Basic subjects are English and computers; program oriented subjects are Aircraft constructions, engines, air craft rules, Jet engine etc.
Suggested Procedure : By the end of 2nd semester means (end of 1st year) the person should appear for the basic paper – I of AME and at the end of 2nd year basic paper – II and in the 5h semester the person should appear for the basic paper – III on light aircraft and piston engine.
The advantage of passing basic papers is helpful to the student for his /her practicals. The person will be eligible for getting the license of AME from the DGCA. After that, the person gets the job easily.
Assessment : The students who have less percentage of 80 in attendance and below 70 percentages in marks, then the student will not promote to the next semester.Aviation Stream
It is the combination of avionics and electronics. The person who wants to pursue their career in aviation, electrical systems, instrument system and radio navigation then he/she can enter into it.
The other requirements are same as the above. Mechanical Stream
Compared to the above two course it is the stream which is having high scope. The program includes insurance, production, repair, maintenance, remodels, water filtration etc.

HIET Polytechnic College is an ISO 9001-2008 Certified Institution and it is approved by AICTE, Govt. of India, New Delhi, Affiliated to the Directorate of technical Education, Govt. of Tamilnadu.
Diploma courses offered under the Polytechnic college are: Automobile Engineering (D.A.E.)
Through this course you can learn the basic subjects in the first year. And in the second year the student should go through about mechanics, manufacturing process, fluid mechanics, designing and drawing etc. By the end of third year the student will learn about industrial management, transporting, CAD/CAM, engines, body building technology and project work.
Facilities : The labs available under the Automobile engineering are: Basic work shop lab, Machine lab, Engines Lab, Diesel lab, transmission lab etc.
Duration : 3 years with 5 semesters and in the final semester project work will be allotted.
Eligibility : Candidate should pass SSLC or 10th standard or any other equivalent examination by the Directorate of Technical Education.Civil Engineering (D.C.E. )
In Civil Engineering, the candidate will learn in-depth information about SDLC process. Mainly, it involves designing and developing. This is functional, economical and sustainable.
Facilities : The labs under the civil engineering are well equipped. In the computer lab, internet facility available with 24 X 7 days. Library is available with many books like magazines, current affairs, journals and its related subjects. During the vacation period the candidate will go for job trainng.
Career Opportunities : Civil Engineers can find job in Govt. sector as well as in private sector also. Generally, the candidates will get jobs in Highways, railways, airport authorities etc. departments.

Eligibility Criteria : Same as the above courseDiploma in Computer Technology
In three years, the candidate should learn the basic subjects in the first year, computer languages like C, CPP, Java, Web Technologies, and OOPs, in-depth information about computer software side and hardware side are learned. Network and security, relational DB management, hardware and its servicing and the electives: .Net programming, Embedded Systems and Multimedia Systems are learned in the third year and in this year project work also included.
Facilities : The labs are connected and switched with the concept of bus topology. Labs are fully furnished. Internet facilities are also available.
Duration : 3 years
Eligibility Criteria : Same as the above courseDiploma in Mechanical Engineering
During the course the candidate will go through the basic subjects like Mathematics, General English, Physics and Chemistry in the first year and in the second year Mechanics, Drawing, Manufacturing etc. are learned and Workshop practical's are done in the second year. In the third year the candidate will learn CAD/CAM, Electronics Thermal Engineering etc. with project work.
Facilities : The labs under the Mechanical Engineering are: Power and Transmission Lab, Workshop lab, Engines Lab, Sheet metal lab etc.
Career opportunities : Mechanical Engineers will get jobs in Govt. and in private sectors also. The availability of Mechanical Engineers is in research, development, designing and manufacturing and machine etc.

This is applicable to all Diploma courses. Through this concept, the candidate can enter into 2nd year directly.
