Established in 1st December 1973, Kumaun University is a residential and affiliating University situated in Kumaun region. It is awarded with four stars by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and ISO 9001-2008 certified also. Kumaun University has 3 campuses; one at Almora (SSJ Campus), second at Nainital (DSB Campus) and third at Bhimtal (KU Campus). It is one of the famous Universities in North India that teaches and popular for research and training in subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Ecology, Forestry, Economics and Management. Recently the citizens of Kumaun region are demanding for more seats due to its extreme quality of education, research and placement.
