National Law University, Delhi (NLUD) in collaboration with CUTS Institute for Regulation and Competition (CIRC) invites applications from eligible students for admission to its certificate and diploma courses in Competition Policy and Law.

About NLUD


NLUD aims to prepare students to become professional lawyers with competent skills in advocacy as well as judicial administration. Academics is not the sole focus of the educational process. The students of NLUD also take part in inter-college debate & sports competitions as well as in moot court competitions at the national & international levels.

About CUTS & CIRC


CUTS (Consumer Unity and Trust Society) was set up in 1984. It is a research, advocacy and networking group which is associated with varied issues related to investment, competition economic regulation, international trade and development, etc.

CUTS set up the Institute for Regulation and Competition (CIRC) at Jaipur, India with the aim to offer education, training and research programs on competition & regulatory issues.

NLUD Courses in in Competition Policy and Law 2013


Certificate Course in Competition Policy and Law


This is a basic primary course which focuses on business laws, essentials of economics, competition policy and law and the markets. You will also get an in-depth study of the Competition Act, 2002 as amended in detail.

Syllabus: There are 4 main modules, each having sub-topics. The main modules are:
  • Markets and Business Laws

  • Competition Policy and Evolution of Competition Law

  • Indian Competition Act-Introduction

  • Indian Competition Act - Substantive Provisions


Diploma Course in Competition Policy and Law


This course is on a more advanced level than the certificate course on the subject. You will learn about varied aspects of anti-competitive agreements, abuse of dominance, etc. You will also get detailed exposure to topics related to contemporary issues, such as those of business strategy, the interface between IPRs and competition law, etc.

Syllabus: In addition to the 4 modules mentioned in the syllabus of the certificate course above, there are 4 more modules which are part of the diploma course. Thus there are total 8 modules, with sub-topics in each module. The 4 additional modules are:
  • Abuse of Dominance across Jurisdictions

  • Anti-Competitive Agreements across Jurisdictions

  • Regulation of Combinations across Jurisdictions

  • Emerging Issues in Competition Law




General Information about the courses


Both, the certificate course & the diploma course, are accredited by the National Law University, Delhi. There is plenty of scope with regard to job opportunities. You can get employed by a Govt. regulatory body, a law firm, a private business company, a research organization, etc.

Eligibility Requirements


For both the courses, the eligibility criteria is the same:
You should have completed your graduation in any discipline from a university/institution recognised by the UGC or any other regulatory body.
OR
You should be a student in the final year of graduation in any discipline from a university/institution recognised by the UGC or any other regulatory body. In this case, you will get admission subject to having successfully completed graduation within specified time.
OR
You should be a student who has completed the first 3 years of graduation of a 5 year integrated program
OR
You should be an international student who has graduated from a recognized university. In this case, you should produce the relevant document/declaration at the time of admission with regard to the recognition status of the foreign university. Admission will be subject to approval.

Duration


Certificate in Competition Policy and Law: 6 months

Diploma in Competition Policy and Law: 1 year

Course Fees


Certificate in Competition Policy and Law: Rs.25,000/-

Diploma in Competition Policy and Law: Rs.45,000/-

How to pay the fees


You have to pay the fees by Demand Draft in favour of "National Law University, Delhi" payable at New Delhi. Students applying for admission have to pay the entire amount at the time of admission itself.

Scholarships


  • There are 5 scholarships available in every intake. The scholarship is worth 30% fee waiver to each student in the course fee.

  • 5 NLUD students will also be provided fee waiver of 30%

  • 5 scholarships for full-time staff members of CIRC and NLUD will be available in every intake, amounting to 50% fee waiver to each student.

Note: The selection will be strictly on the basis of need-cum-merit & will be jointly done by CIRC and NLUD.
