About Pragjyotish College


Pragjyotish College was established on 1st September in the year 1954. The College is located in Guwahati, on the bank of the river Bharalu. Since its inception, the Pragjyitish College has been raised its prestige as a premier institution of higher education in Arts discipline. The College offers two years post graduate course in Assamese and Tourism Management. All courses of the College is affiliated to Gauhati University. National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has accredited the Pragjyotish College with Grade B two times continuously. The College is well equipped with all modern infrastructures, library facilities, hostel facilities, day-care home facilities etc.

Admission to two-year post-graduate course in Assamese


Pragjyotish College offers Master of Arts programme in Assamese consisting of four semesters.
Availability of Seats : 30
Eligibility : Candidates must be graduate in Arts with Assamese as a major subject.
Selection Procedure : Candidates will be selected purely on the basis of merit.
Course Fee : Rs. 5,000 per semester.

Admission to two-year Master in Tourism Management Course


Pragjyotish College offers two year Master in Tourism Management (MTM) Course consisting of four semesters.
Availability of Seats : 30
Eligibility : Candidates who are graduate from any discipline are eligible for admission to the course.
Selection Procedure : Candidates will be selected on the basis of a Personal interview.
Course Fee :
For first semester : Admission fees Rs. 1000/- and Semester fees Rs. 10,000/-. So, total Rs. 11,000/-.
For other semesters : Rs. 10,000/- each.

How to Apply


Prospectus cum Application Form can be obtained from the college offices during office hours from 10 am to 4 pm on cash payment of Rs. 200/- which will be issued from 12th July, 2013. Completed Application Form with all relevant documents should be submitted at the college offices before the last dates. Candidates have to produce original copy of following documents at the time of Personal Interview-
  • Original Admit Card of HSSLC Examination,

  • Original Mark-sheet of last examination appeared,

  • Two copies of recent passport size photographs of the candidate,

  • Cast Certificate if any,

  • Proficiency Certificate for extra-curricular activity if any,

  • Registration Card,

  • Pass Certificate from the Principal of the institution last attended.


  • About Hostel


    The College offers hostel facilities only for girls students. Hostel seats will be alloted on the basis of merit. Girls candidates may apply to the principal in plain paper along with photocopy of mark-sheet and PRC for hostel seats.

    Admission Fee : Rs. 2000/-
    Caution Deposit (Refundable) : Rs. 1000/-
    Seat Rent : Rs. 600 per month.
