Good morning India,
Today on 15th August 2014 we are going to celebrate our 68 th Independence Day, and we all very proud to say that we are citizens of a free country for last 68 years and the largest democratic nation in the world. Today we gather here to celebrate this auspicious occasion with my all friends, teachers and other honorable person of my school. I want to congratulate everyone of this School a Happy Independence Day and also take the opportunity of welcoming our chief guest for today. On August 15, 1947 India got freedom from the bondage of British rule and it is a day worth a celebration. On this special day we remember the great leaders who gave their lives and martyrs who laid their precious lives for our sake for the nation's freedom and prosperity.
Every year honorable Prime Minister of India hoists the Indian flag at the Red Fort, New Delhi and delivers a speech in which he highlights the achievements of government, raises important issues and gives a call for further development. Prime minster also pays his tribute to leaders of the freedom struggle. Live telecast of Indian Independence Day celebrations function is shown live on DD National Television channel and all other leading news channel. It is the day when the whole world sees the glory and power of India.
But friends, on this occasion I want to ask do we really value this freedom or really deserve this. Freedom does not mean to vote and elect our Prime minister it is one more than that. Freedom means we participate in the development of our country protect it from not only outsiders but also from the social evils prevailing in our country, fulfill our duties and last but not the least being a good citizen. Freedom is not a piece of cake, we got this freedom after a long fight and through the sacrifices of great leaders so we must respect this freedom and have to take care of it at any cost.
Though we live in a free county and the largest democracy but are we really free. Yes, we are free but from the foreign invasion only, but in reality we become slave of many weaknesses and social evils. Nowadays many problems are prevailing in our country like terrorism, price hike, woman assault, illiteracy, corruption, unemployment, poverty and lots more. Then how can we say that we are free? We will get the actual freedom only when we become free from all these social evils. So friends on this eve I invite my all friends to take a pledge that we all will participate actively for the development of our country and make it free from all the social evils. The younger power can change the fate of the nation, hence we students should play our roles in the development of India.
I also pay my heartily tribute to all the heroes who sacrifice their life and make us proud to be a citizen of free nation. Jai Hind.
