  • verbal communication: There are many languages all around the world . Most popular way to use these languages for communication is verbal. Patterns of sound or sign for symbols are used for verbal communication. There are a number of verbal and non-verbal ways of communication. These various ways are body language, eye to eye talk, sign language and chromatic. There is no distinct procession between a language and a talk. Communication is the process of exchanging information among people or a group of people. In simple words a verbal communication is an activity by which we convey messages, thoughts, or feelings by using our tongue and mouth. Verbal communication is a good technique of communicating face-to-face. The chief components of the verbal communication are words, sound, and language. We can implement our sound on language or words to communicate.

  • Nonverbal communication: Nonverbal communication is performance, it is very different to the verbal information. In other words in this type of communication we use facial expressions, body language (movements), and gestures etc. Nonverbal communication is a process of communication without using sound or languages. In fact, not only humans respond to this kind of communication but animals also follow the nonverbal instructions. For example a dog, it may follow directions and react to hand and body movement's more than verbal instructions. There are mainly two types of nonverbal communication one is Body language and another is gestures. Body language is body behavior or movements which are directly proportional to person's position or feelings. Body language includes the way walking, standing and the facial appearance where Gestures are communications like facial expressions, hand signals, eye expressions and body attitudes.

  • Oral communication: Oral communication can be defined as the spoken verbal communication. We also can use visual aids and non-verbal basics to prop up the transportation of meaning. Oral communication contains speeches, presentations, discussions etc. As this is a type of face-to-face communication, body language and tone of talk play a major role, and may have a good or bad impact upon the listener than subject of information. This type of communication is two way process and it also generates immediate feedback.

  • Business communication: in business organization, communication process plays an important role. A business can grow only when all goals and objectives of the organization are attained successfully. For the growth of an organization people under it must be able to communicate and get across their message properly to each other.

  • Written communication: First of all lets know little about the history of written communication. In ancient times written communication was in the form of pictures and drawings. After the pictorial representation writing began to appear on paper, boards, clay, wax, etc. with familiar alphabets. Then the stage came that is characterized by the transfer of information by controlled waves of electromagnetic radiation and other electronic signals. A very good example of the modern written communication is text massage by the phones.

Barriers to effective human communication

Barriers to the effective communication process can destroy or disturb the message and can cause failure of the communication process .The failure in communication process may be caused by the overload of information, emotions, language, silence, communication apprehension, gender differences and political precision. There are many states of the barriers in the effective communication system. These all the stages are described below.

  • Physical barriers: Physical barriers may occur due to the temperament of the surroundings. For example the usual barrier which occurs in an organization if staff is located in different buildings or on different locations. Likewise, introduction to the new technology in an organization may cause problem. Lack of staff is another reason which often causes communication complexities for an organization. While interruptions like poor lighting or an atmosphere which is too hot or cold can all have an effect on people's confidence and concentration, which in turn obstruct with efficient or effective communication.

  • System design: System design barrier refers to the crisis in the structures or systems of organization. If an organizational structure is unclear it is very difficult to know that whom to communicate with in an organization. Inefficient or inappropriate information systems cause failure in the effective communication. So the system design must be appropriate in an organization.

  • Attitudinal barriers: Attitudinal barriers arise because of the evils with staff in an organization. For example, by such aspects as poor management, lack of discussion with employees, personality clashes which can result in people waiting or refusing to converse, the personal feelings of employees which may arise due to shortage of motivation or disappointment at work. So management must be in touch with employees and have to motivate the employees and provide satisfactory conditions to them to avoid this kind of barrier.

  • uncertainty of words: there are many same words but having different meaning. These words can express a different meaning overall. Hence the communicator must make certain that the receiver on the other end receives the same meaning that communicator wants to convey.

  • Ability to understand language: This is also a barrier in the communication process. Language is the most important part of the communication. The difficult or inappropriate words in communication can stop the receivers from understanding the meaning. If massages are explained poorly it can also result in mystification.

  • Appearance of information: Appearance of information of information is important for effective communication. Presentation must in a proper order with appropriate vocabulary and should be in clear language so that the communicator on the other end can understand properly what the presenter wants to convey. Let's take an example, In an organization if a superior is addressing the workers in order to convey a massage for increase in productivity he should be able to convey this massage in a convenient way.

This is a very good and well explained article on communication. Communication is an process through which one can make other or others understand what he/she want to say. And oral and written communication are part of verbal communication itself. Here i want to add some elements used in communication process:-
1. Sender- Sender is the person who want to send the massage to other.
2. Massage- It refers to whatever a sender wants to communicate.
3. Channel- It is the medium through which the massage will be communicated by sender to receiver. For example, through mail, e-mail, telephone, face to face talk etc.
4. Reciever- The person who will receive the massage sent by sender. Receiver may be one or more than one person.

Yes communication plays very important role in our lives. In this regard I wish to state a real time experience in olden days when telegrams used to be sent for urgent messages. In a particular house , three members of them went to the thirth yatra to immerse the remains of their mother's ashes in Ganges and while coming back one of the brother suffer heart attack. But the telegram sent by them in those days wrote Kapoor dead, we are reaching. Now the family of each of the three were just wondering which Kapoor was dead. This benefit of doubt was lingering for whole seven days when they reached home and fact found.

For an effective communication to take place there should be a good listener. When both the parties involved in a communication are interested in speaking, fights and misunderstandings will arise. Effective communication is the base for a good living and to maintain relationships, hence each one of us should be a good listener as well. We can take our chance once the speaker stops, obviously the speaker too will listen to us as we have listened to him/her.

Apart from the above mentioned types of communication, there are certain other types as well. I have mentioned few below.

1) Formal Communication: It is a type of communication normally used in offices. We use this type of communication to talk about serious matters, to strangers or people whom we know little. Slangs, bad words etc are not used when the communication is formal.

2) Informal Communication: The type of communication we have with our close and near ones is called informal communication. This can be seen in office as well, with our close colleagues. Informal communication is also called as grapevine communication. It is this type of communication which strengthens the bond between people and creates relationships.

3) Direct Communication: When two or more people communicate directly with each other it is known as direct communication. Here the involvement of a third party will not be seen at all. There can be one or more listener as well as speaker but an eye contact will be present most of the times.

4) Indirect Communication: Under this type of communication, the speaker does not make a direct statement and the intentions will be hidden. Both the speaker and the listener will try to protect their image and face through indirect communication.

This article is a good topic of discussion and the most important word in this is brain drain, which may totally affect the scheme of communication how good the communication may be. If the receiver is not correctly conceived then the purpose of communication defeated and this is called brain drain of communication.

So this will only fulfil any kind of communication and also without mention of this word will also make the writing incomplete and hence I wanted to fulfil the writing with it.
