National Institute of Technology (NIT), Goa invites application for PhD admissions for the year 2014-2015 in Electronics and Communication Branch in the following areas under Visveswaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics and IT.
  • Sensing Techniques (CMOS) and sensor networks

  • High Speed behavioral modeling of Analog and Mixed signal Systems

  • Ultra low power Data Converters

  • Ultra low power architectures System and System on Chips

  • Number of Fellowships


    Eligibility Criteria

    Candidates should have Engineering degree and Masters Engineering degree in Electronics and Communication with 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA from recognized institute or University for admission in PhD in ECE (Sensing Techniques (CMOS) and sensor networks) and (High Speed behavioral modelling of Analog and Mixed signal Systems) and for PhD admission in Electronics and Communication Engineering (Ultra low power Data Converters, Ultra low power architectures System and System on Chips) candidates should have M.Tech/ M.S/ ME programs from reputed institutes/ university and must qualify in GATE or B.Tech with CGPA of 9.0 above from reputed institute. Candidates from NIT/ IIT will also be considered.


    This PhD admission in Electronics and Communication Engineering in NIT, Goa can be done through Full-time course or Part-time course.

    Selection Method

    Selection of applicants will be done basing on academic record and performance in the interview.

    Salient Features

    As per the Visvevaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics and IT in association with Media Lab Asia, the selected candidates will be entitled for fellowship. PhD Scholarship is Rs 22,500/- to Rs 25,000/ - per candidates and annual contingency grant/ support, reimbursement of rent up to 20% fellowship amount as per Indian Govt norms and Support for attending International conferences.

    How to apply

    Candidates has to fill application form in prescribed format and has to pay Rs 500/- as an application fee for General and OBC candidates (Rs 200/- for SC/ST candidates)in the form of DD in favor of DIRECTOR, NIT Goa payable at Corporation Bank,Farmagudi Branch (Code - 1328) and send application along with following documents
  • Three passport size attested photographs.

  • Self - attested copy of GATE score fellowship.

  • Self - attested copies of qualifying examination from Matriculation onwards and provisional certificate of the qualifying examination.

  • Self - attested copy of Caste Certificate.

  • Self - attested copy of Experience Certificate.

  • Research Proposal of 1000 words.

  • No objection certificate duly signed by HOD/ HOS for sponsored candidates from industry/ State Govt employee.

  • Self - attested copies of recognized short term courses, research publications, professional qualification etc.

  • And DD has to be sent to the below given address on or before 1-Oct-2014.

    Total fees for 1st Semester for General candidates is Rs. 21600/-
    Total fees for 1st Semester for SC/ST candidates is Rs. 18600/-
