PM's Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) 2015-16 online application form


Kendriya Sainik Board, Ministry of Defence, Government of India is offering Prime Minister's Scholarship under PMSS for Dependent Wards / Widows of Ex-Servicemen and Ex Indian Coast Guard Personnel. About Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme

Kendriya Sainik Board, Ministry of Defence, Government of India is inviting applications from suitable candidates for providing scholarship under Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme. Amount of scholarship will be Rs. 2,000 per month for boys and Rs. 2,500 per month for girls. Scholarship amount will be paid on annual basis. Dependent wards / widows of Ex-servicemen and Ex-Indian Coast Guard personnel pursuing Professional Degree Courses, duly recognized by the respective government regulatory bodies such as MCI, AICTE and UGC etc., who have joined the professional courses in the academic year 2015-16, can apply for PMSS. Total 4000 students will be selected for PMSS. Duration of scholarship is 02-05 years depending upon duration of the course. Scholarship duration will be one year only for B.Ed.

Eligibility for PMSS

  • Applicant must be dependent ward of Ex Servicemen / Ex Coast Guard personnel and widow (below officer rank only) and dependent ward/ widow of Ex Servicemen / Ex Coast Guard personnel who died / disabled in harness due to causes attributable to Military Service / Coast Guard Service, irrespective of the rank.
  • Applicant must have taken admission in 2015.
  • Applicant must have scored at least 60% in Class 12th/ Diploma/ Graduation.
  • If you are selected for this scheme, then you must have to score minimum 50% marks in each semester / academic year to be eligible for subsequent payments.
Candidates fulfilling these conditions can only apply for PM Scholarship.



Finally selected candidates will have to open a bank account in State Bank of India (SBI) or Punjab National Bank (PNB) having electronic clearance system (ECS) or Core Banking. The account is required for transferring scholarship amount.

Selection will be made on the basis of provided priority list for grant of scholarship and percentage of marks obtained in minimum educational qualification.

Scholarship amount and mode of payment

Amount of scholarship will be Rs. 2,000 per month for boys and Rs. 2,500 per month for girls.

PM Scholarship Scheme

First instalment of scholarship will be paid automatically after completion of final selection procedure. Subsequent payments will be made through 'Payment cum Renewal Form'. All selected candidates will have to submit the Payment cum Renewal Form along with Bonafide Certificate which must be duly signed by the Principal / Dean / Registrar of the Institution / College. The form must be submitted to "Kendriya Sainik Board (KSB), R K Puram, New Delhi" on completion of each academic year. Kindly note that you need to score minimum 50% marks in each semester / academic year to be eligible for subsequent payments.

Documents required to attach with application form

Following documents must be attached with application form:
  • Attested photocopy of Matriculation or equivalent examination certificate having date of birth for verification.
  • Specimen Copy of Ex-Servicemen / Ex-Coast Guard Certificate.
  • Bonafide Certificate from College in original.
  • Attested photocopy of mark sheet of Minimum Educational Qualification.
  • Photocopy of Bank Passbook showing account number or one cancelled cheque leaf.
  • Bonafide Certificate to be signed by Registrar / Dean / Principal of College / Institution.
Hence, you must have these documents with you before applying for the scholarship.



How to apply for PMSS 2015-16

Applications must be submitted on A4 size paper to respective Rajya Sainik Board (RSB)/ Coast Guard Headquarter at forms provided on link herewith. Do not send any application directly to Kendriya Sainik Board (KSB). Last date to apply is 30 November 2015. Envelope must be superscribed as "Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme for the Academic Year 2015-16". One student can submit only one application for one course.

Certain additional relevant information is that -
1. Aadhar card number is required
2. All certificates should be self attested
3. Scholarship is not available for distance learning courses and masters degree courses except MCA and MBA and
4. The scholarship is admissible for only two children of ESM / Ex-Coast Guard.

My daughter named Ms HariChandana applied for PM scholarship 2016 and documents were submitted to the Zila Sainik board, Visakhapatnam. They advised us to apply online also which is compulsory from this year whereas we are not getting any information on this site to fill and submit the application. Request to your guidelines for online submission.

Open brouchure file at link provided above. It clearly states that applicants should download application form from online website link provided and submit duly filled forms on plain A4 size paper. You may cross question the concerned person that why are they asking to apply online while only application format is available online.

Scholarship applications for year 2015-16 are not accepted now. Last date is expired. You can apply for year 2016-17. Bookmark this page to get details of 2016-17 PMSS as and when available.
