Mandala-Makaravilakku 2014 is a famous festival of Jalahalli Sree Ayyappan Temple. Every year thousands of devotees visit this temple during the Makaravilakku Mahotsavam. For the year 2014, the Mandalam-Makaravilakku 2014 an important festival of Jalahalli Sree Ayyappa Temple will be held from November 17(1st Vrischikam) - January 14(1st Makaram). This year also we can expect heavy rush at the temple. Devotees will be provided stay facilities. Every year pilgrims visit this temple for preparing irumudi kettu, a cloth bundle carrying traditional offerings. The importance of this irumudi kettu lies in the fact that it should be carried by only those who observe the 41 days vratha. For the 2014 season ,the temple have already made necessary arrangements for helping devotees to prepare this irumudi kettu, a travel kit of the Ayyappa devotees. This festival will be conducted under the guidance of Kesavan Namboodiri(Melsanthi), Unnikrishnan Namboodiri(Sub Melsanthi) and Krishnan Namboodiri(Keezhsanthi).
In this temple, the Mandalam-Makaravilakku festival starts on November 17 at 3:30 AM. In the afternoon there will be annadhanam. At 6:00 PM ,there will be bakthiganamela and from 7:00 PM onwards, there will be deeparadhana, athazhapooja and sheeveli. Festival flag off will be held on December 16. Rest of the programs will be held as December 22(Utsavabeli, pallivetta), December 23(Arattu), December 27(Mandalapooja, annadhanam), January 14(Mandala-makaravilakku pooja) and January 20(Mahaguruthy pooja) respectively.
