Want to study abroad in UK through the Commonwealth Professional Fellowships? These fellowships are applicable for the citizens from developing Commonwealth countries and are offered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC), United Kingdom (UK). Since 1959 the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission has been organizing various prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship plans for international study. The Commonwealth Professional Fellowships is one of those schemes which offers a great opportunity to mid-career professionals of developing Commonwealth countries so that they can spend a certain period of time with a UK host organizations for a program engaged in their professional fields to develop their working skill.

Who are eligible?

Any UK-based professional, charitable, public or private organization may apply for the scheme for either of the following purposes:
  1. To host the fellows in their organizations
  2. Nominating candidates for other organizations
In case any application has any practical relevance to the following fields will get the preference:
  • Agriculture / Fisheries / Forestry
  • Engineering / Science / Technology
  • Economic growth
  • Public health
  • Education
  • Governance
  • Environment
Candidates should have the following eligibility:
  • Applicants should be Commonwealth citizens, refugees or British protected persons.
  • Applicants should be permanent residents of developing Commonwealth countries.
  • Candidates should have relevant working experience of minimum five years in a related field.
  • Candidates who have not received Commonwealth Professional Fellowship within the last five years, are allowed to apply.
  • Candidates who will not try to undertake any academic scheme of research or study in UK except academic management irrelevant to their research subject, are welcome to submit their applications.




Duration of the scheme

Time time frame of the fellowships should be from one to three months. It can be accepted for six months in case it is a strong case. However, no application with lesser duration of one month will be entertained.

Details of awards

The Commonwealth Professional Fellowship offers the value as furnished below:
  • Return economy class airfare from home country to UK.
  • Monthly living allowance on pro rata basis @ monthly £1580 during the fellowship period and @ monthly £1959 for London Metropolitan area.
  • Up to £887.83 as arrival allowance at current rate.
  • Reimbursement of Visa application fee.

Selection Procedure

Based on the fields as mentioned above, the selection committee will consider the following points to select the applications:
  1. How far the proposed fellowship is needed to develop the skill for a relevant developing country.
  2. How far the concerned Commonwealth developing country will be benefitted practically by the developed skill.
  3. how far the fellowship can be able to work as a catalyst to the relevant developing country or to set up a new relationship with the UK.

Application process

The applications for the fellowship submitted through Electronic Application System (EAS) will be accepted only. Applications forms will be filled in first by the representative of the organization who is nominating or hosting and then the second part will be filled by the fellow. No application received from any individual candidates directly will be accepted the Committee.

Last date of applications for Commonwealth Professional Fellowships 2015 is 14 September 2015 til 23:59 GMT.
