Five affordable destinations for Indian students to study abroad


Looking for low cost educational options abroad? This resource attempts to help Indian students from middle-class background to pursue quality higher studies in foreign countries at affordable cost. The countries chosen are based upon the costs and standard of higher education.

The number of Indian students going abroad for higher studies have been increasing year after year. With the spread of information in the era of internet, the choice has not been limited to fewer countries like the USA, the UK, France and Canada. Students can get information about the courses and universities from all countries of the world.
While the choice for the perfect destination for higher study depends on various factors, for an Indian student from middle-class background, cost of higher education, standard of higher education and future employment prospects are most vital. On the basis of these three criteria, five affordable destination have been chosen where Indians can pursue higher studies abroad.

Norway

Some universities in this Nordic country offer specialised courses including PhD programmes for international students where the medium of instruction is English.The country boast of very high standard of higher education. Cost of living in Norway is on higher side, but grants are available for selected Fellowship/PhD programmes.

Italy

The University of Bologna in Italy is considered the older modern universities of the world. In modern days, Italy can boast about some top academic institutions which are among the top 200 in the world. The tuition fees and the cost of living are amongst the lowest among the western countries. The weather is also suitable for Indian students. However, the medium of instruction may cause some problem for Indians.

Although not very popular among Indian students, the vibrant culture, affordable cost and pleasant weather make Spain attractive for students. In addition, learning Spanish and variety of unconventional but useful courses would be added advantage for the students.

Germany

Germany is already a preferred destination for many Indian students who wish to pursue higher education of very high standard. German universities are known for maintaining very high standard of education all over the world. The public universities in Germany do not charge tuition fees for undergraduate students. International students have to bear a nominal fee. Indian students can also work full-time or part-time while pursuing studies. Scholarship options for international students are also available. Cost of living is on higher side. The medium of instruction is German, which has a close affinity with English.

New Zealand

Although the weather is considered to be little harsh, the country is one of the most beautiful countries of the world. New Zealand has a lot to offer for international students. Visa is granted liberally and the life-style is easy and less competitive. University of Auckland and University of Otago feature among the top 200 world universities. Cost of living in New Zealand is moderate and the tuition fee is reasonable. Needless to say that the medium of instruction is English. The job prospects in the country after completion of education is also great because of very low population density.
