IAF Airmen December 2015 recruitment rally for UT Andaman & Nicobar Islands citizens


Are you a domicile of the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands looking for career opportunities in the Indian Air Force? This article provides complete information on the schedule of the IAF December 2015 recruitment rally for recruiting eligible candidates to join in the technical and non-technical trades.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is providing a special opportunity to Indian citizens from the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands to join as Airmen for various technical and non-technical trades. You should not attend the rally if you do not fulfil the requisite eligibility criteria, including domicile requirements. Also, the rally is not for recruiting candidates to join as commissioned officers or pilots or navigators.

Venue: Netaji Stadium, Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands

Dates: 1st December 2015 to 5th December 2015 [refer complete schedule at the end of this article]

Eligibility requirements

Nationality, marital status and gender

You must be a male citizen of India and be unmarried.

Date of birth

Your date of birth should be between 1st February 1996 and 31st May 1999 (both days inclusive). If you are successful in the selection procedure, your upper age limit as on the date of enrolment is 21 years.

Domicile eligibility criteria

The educational qualification must be acquired of a Board which is recognized or affiliated by the Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE) and the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

The educational institute from where you have passed the passed the requisite qualifying exam must be within the geographical/administrative limits of the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. In case the name of the District is not mentioned with the name of educational institution in the certificate / marks sheet of your qualifying examination, then you will need to submit a valid Domicile Certificate issued by SDM/DM/Executive Magistrate or any other authorised official (should be authorised by the Government of UT of Andaman & Nicobar Islands).

You should be having a permanent Domicile of UT of Andaman & Nicobar Islands if you have passed the qualifying exam from elsewhere in India. However, then you must submit the Domicile Certificate prior to starting the exam from the appropriate authority.

If you are a son of a serving Air Force personnel, then, irrespective of your domicile status, you will be allowed to appear in the rally subject to submission the requisite SOAFP (Son of serving Air Force personnel). This certificate format is available on the official website www.airmenselection.gov.in. You can also submit PPO, Discharge Book, Service Certificate issued from DAV/AFRO for Sons of retired/deceased/discharged Air Force personnel as per the categories specified at the official website.



Educational qualification

For technical trades

You should have passed the intermediate or 10+2 or equivalent exam with Mathematics, Physics & English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English
OR
You should have successfully cleared a 3 year Diploma Course in engineering from a Government recognized Polytechnic Institute with 50% marks in overall aggregate, and 50% marks in English in Diploma or in Intermediate/Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Diploma Course. The acceptable streams of engineering are: (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile / Computer Science / Instrumentation Technology / Information Technology.

For non-technical trades

You should have passed the intermediate or 10+2 or equivalent exam in any stream or subjects which is approved by a Central or State Education Board with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English
OR
You should have passed a 2 year vocational course recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (CBSE / Board of Vocational Higher Secondary Education Kerala) with a minimum score of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in vocational course or in the intermediate/matriculation exam, if English is not a subject in the vocational course.

Physical and medical standards

Overall, you should be both physically & medically fit to train and fulfil your duties in India and other global places in any type of weather conditions across all types of terrain. You should not be having any skin ailments or communicable diseases. The specific requirements are:
  • Your Chest should have a minimum range of expansion of 5 cm.

  • You weight should be proportionate to your age and height (see below table for height standards).

  • You should have visual acuity as per the standards mentioned in the table above. Note that corneal surgery (PRK/LASIK) is unacceptable.

  • You should have normal hearing, with the ability to hear a forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters with each individual ear.

  • Your oral health should be good, with healthy gums and a good set of teeth with a minimum of 14 dental points.

  • You are permitted to have certain types of permanent body tattoos on the inner face of the forearms, the back of the hand or reverse side of the palm. Tribals with tattoos which are part of their customs & traditions are allowed too. Note that if you do have any permanent body tattoos, you will be required to submit a clear photo with details of the type & its size.

Documents required at the rally

  1. You should bring 7 un-attested recent passport size colour photos (that is, the photos should not have been taken before November 2015) showing a front portrait in light background without headgear (headgear is allowed in the case of Sikhs). The photo must be taken with you holding a black slate in front of your chest with your name and the date when the photo is taken, clearly written on it with white chalk in capital letters.

  2. Both the original and 4 self-attested photocopies of your Matriculation passing certificate (this will verify your date of birth).

  3. Both the original and 4 self-attested photocopies of your Matriculation marks sheet (for those who have done a 3 year Diploma Course or 2 year vocational course when English is not a subject in the course).

  4. Both the original and 4 self-attested photocopies of your intermediate/10+2/ equivalent exam passing certificate and marks sheet OR the original and 4 self-attested photocopies of the 3-year Diploma Course/2-year Vocational Course passing certificate and marks sheets of all semesters you are a Diploma /Vocational Course holders.

  5. Both the original and 4 self-attested photocopies of the Domicile Certificate OR the original and 4 self-attested photocopies of duly filled Son of Air Force Personnel (SOAFP) certificate (see format at the official website www.airmenselection.gov.in) OR the original and 4 self-attested photocopies of PPO/ Discharge Book/ Service Certificate issued from DAV/AFRO for Sons of retired/deceased/discharged Air Force personnel OR the original and 4 self-attested photocopies of Discharge Certificate if applicable (as issued from Indian Army/Indian Navy/Government Organisation).

  6. A Consent Form in the requisite format. Those who are below 18 years of age must get the consent form filled and signed by their parent/guardian. The candidates of 18 years of age and above can sign the consent form themselves.

Rally schedule

For all the below dates, districts covered are: all districts of UT of Andaman & Nicobar Islands (Nicobar, North and Middle Andaman, South Andaman)
  1. On 1st December 2015: The written Test & adaptability test for Group X Technical Trades.

  2. On 2nd December 2015: The physical fitness Test (PFT) and interview of candidates who have passed the written test & adaptability test on 01 December 2015.

  3. On 3rd December 2015: The written Test & adaptability Test for Group Y Trades (except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF(P), IAF(S) & Musician).

  4. On 4th December 2015: The physical Fitness Test (PFT) and interview of candidates who have passed the written test & adaptability test on 3rd December 2015.
    5th December 2015 will be a reserve day.

Exam format

  1. A written test of objective type questions in both English and Hindi (other than the English paper). For those appearing for the technical trades, the test will be of 60 minutes and will include: English, Physics and Mathematics as per 10+2 CBSE syllabus. For non-technical trades (except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF(P), IAF(S) & Musician), the duration of the test will be 45 minutes and will include: English as per 10+2 CBSE syllabus; Reasoning & General Awareness (RAGA).

  2. An adaptability test will be undertaken by those who have passed the written test.

  3. A physical fitness test (PFT) has to be undertaken by all those who pass the written test & the adaptability Test. This includes: 1.6kms run to be completed within 8 minutes; 20 squats followed by 10 push-ups and 10 sit-ups within the stipulated time.

  4. An interview will be conducted for those passing the previous 3 tests mentioned above. Note that you will need to have a working knowledge of English for the interview.

  5. A medical exam will be conducted in January 2016 for all those who qualify in the interview round.
