Established in 1884 by well-known visionaries & academic scholars, the Maharashtra Girls Education Society's H.H.C.P. Girls High School, also known as Huzurpaga Girls High School is credited for being the very first high school for girls in the State of Maharashtra. It was also the second high school in India which offered secondary education just for girls. The school conducted a special cultural program showcasing traditional folk dances of India on the occasion of its 130th anniversary last year. The society also operates other Marathi medium schools in Pune.Academics
The Maharashtra Girls Education Society's H.H.C.P. Girls High School does not have pre-primary and primary sections. It offers education from Class 5 to Class 10, with six divisions at each level. Out of these, in three divisions the medium of teaching is semi-English and in three divisions it is Marathi medium. The curriculum is as per the State Board's SSC syllabus. The school building houses large classrooms with separate rooms for computer learning sessions and two computer labs equipped with computers for students of Class 9 and Class 10. There is a large hall for morning assembly and programs. The two playgrounds on the school campus are for sports activities of throw ball, volley ball and basketball as well as the traditional Indian games of kabbadi and langdi. Expert, qualified coaches are available for various sports as well as for swimming.
Boarding facilities: Girls who reside outside of Pune city can avail of the hostel facilities.

Extra-curricular and co-curricular activities
Students are taught art & craft, drawing, music and embroidery along with home science and electronics. In addition, special sessions are assigned for social work, overall development of the personality and also Girl Guides and MCC.Unique features of the school
The school offers financial aid to economically needy students from time to time through various schemes, thanks to support from trusts as well as parents of the students themselves. For example, under the Savitribai Phule Dattak Palak Yojana, any parent can give a donation of any amount as per his/her wish for the benefit of students who require financial support.
