Academics

Bishop Cotton Girls' School (BCGS) is an English medium school, affiliated to ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education) and ISC (Indian School Certificate). It runs classes from kindergarten to 12th, with ICSE based curriculum followed up to standard 10th and ISC based curriculum for higher secondary classes. Arts, Commerce and Science are the three streams offered by the school at ISC level. Academics start in the month of June.

Infrastructure and Facilities

  • Bishop Cotton Girls' School (BCGS) publish advertisement in newspapers (Times of India and Deccan Herald) regarding issuance of Admission Application form for LKG every year in the month of January. Most probably in second week of January admission forms are issued by the school. Referring to the advertisement, parents can collect application forms personally from the school itself. During this period the school witnesses a huge crowd of parents coming to collect application forms. Last date of form submission needs to be confirmed from school while collecting forms. Selection of children for admission occurs in February month. Minimum age criteria for admission in LKG is 4 years on or before 31st May of that academic year.

  • If a parent wants his/her child to be alumni of BCGS then it is advisable to admit child from starting only i.e. LKG because afterwards it is difficult to admit as most of the time it says 'no vacancy' for new students after the results are announced. All seats in higher grades are filled up with the students passed out from the previous classes so no seat remains for outside students. In case seats are available then those are filled up on the basis of an entrance examination. Confirm vacancies and date or other details of this entrance examination in March or April month from school office only.

  • Parents need to ask the school for fee details of day scholars and boarders. It keeps on revising every year. Parents do not have to make fee payments at school office, but instead fees can be paid at the Extension Counter of Vijaya Bank situated inside school premises. Benefit of fee concession is available for the students pertaining to CSI (Church of South India) or daughters of teachers in CSI Schools.
