IDRC Research Awards/Doctoral Research Awards
These awards are offered by Canada's IDRC (International Development Research Centre). The fundings are awarded to Masters or doctoral students (pursuing or just completed) at recognized universities. Awards range from 3 months to 1 year paid research program in developing countries.
Applications are to be sent online along with research proposal. The funds are for Masters or PhD. scholars from developing countries (including India) at a Canadian university who want to pursue research in a developing nation. The awards typically include a salary of CA$39,797-CA$46,070 annually and some travel and research expenses, up to a maximum of CA$15,000. Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships
The fellowship is offered by the Canadian government to Canadian nationals & international postdoctoral applicants. A grant of CA $70,000 per year (taxable) is offered for 2 years to 70 candidates per year.
You need to visit the websites of the participating institutions and seek endorsement. The application for the Banting fellowship must then be prepared and submitted to the institution by the deadline in September. Results are announced typically in early February. Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS)
A scholarship offered by the Canadian government to doctoral students in social sciences and/or humanities, natural sciences and/or engineering and health. Scholarship value is CA $50,000 per year. This private fund offers two CA $1,500 scholarships in support of international and Canadian students registered for a Masters or doctoral course on animal research in a Québec or British Columbia University. Awarded by the Pierre Elliot Trudeau Foundation each year for doctoral research, fellowships, mentorships and scholarships in humanities and social sciences at select Canadian institutions. The fundings are awarded to candidates applying to the first year of a doctoral program. Outstanding applicants from developing countries, with an interest in public policy, are preferred. Fairleigh Dickinson University Scholarships for International Students
International students are offered to full-time students of FDU in Vancouver, at various levels from undergraduate to graduates. Scholarships offered at the time of admission, and renewable based on continued full-time enrollment and good GPA. Award amounts range from CA$1,000 to CA$15,000 per year at undergrad levels to CA$1,000 to CA$10,000 at Masters levels.HEC Montreal BBA Entrance Scholarships
Offered by HEC Montreal, a French-language university where international BBA students are offered merit-based scholarships. Scholarship values range between CA$7,000 and CA$14,000 for one or two terms, with which differential fees are paid for the candidate. Awards are given based on results on the national exams. These scholarships are offered to students entering the first year of any first entry undergraduate program of study at the university. The Principal's International Scholarship is available for Indian students, at a value of CA$20,000. This award applies to all programs of study, and can be renewed after a year as long as 3.50 GPA is maintained. This is a merit-based scholarship where no application is required.
