How to apply for 2016 NIOS short term skill training courses with on job training

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is under the aegis of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. Other than conducting academic courses at the senior level and senior secondary level, NIOS also offers varied vocational and technical skills training courses aimed at making students employment-ready. Education and skill development are thus combined through such courses.

NIOS has now announced admissions open for a short term skill training program 2016-2017. Registration for the program is ongoing from May 20th 2016.

About the program

The NIOS short term skill training program 2016-2017 is being launched in collaboration with industries. The curriculum of the program has been designed with inputs from reputed partners. The primary focus will be on practical training. This incorporates training at industries for 2 weeks. The admission is on first come first serve basis. Training centres are located all over India and you can select your training centre when you fill in the online application form. Campus selection is also offered. That is, on completion of the training you may get placed via the placement on-campus walk-in-interview conducted by various industry officials.


The program is for 2 months, with the course commencing from 1st June 2016.

Eligibility requirements

  1. Educational qualification: You must be Class 10 pass from any recognised Board.

  2. Age criteria: Your minimum age should be 18 years as on 1st June 2016.

How to apply

Here's a step by step guidance to register for the NOS skills training program this summer.
  1. You have to register at: If you are already registered at NOS, then you simply have to sign in to enter the system.

  2. Read first the general instructions at:

  3. Fill in the application form to which you will get access once you enter the system after log-in.

  4. After filling in and submitting the admission form, you need to take a print out of it. Put in your signature and paste a passport size photograph on the printout of the form. Send it to:

Important Notes:
  • You will need to pay the requisite fees in the Form of DD in Favour of Secretary NIOS, payable at NOIDA.

  • For those who are doing online admission: you need to provide an address for dispatch of the filled-in printout of the admission application form, along with the requisite supporting documents and the requisite fees.

  • Fees can be paid via either of the following options:
    (i) Deposit the fee online with a credit card or a debit card
    (ii) Deposit the fee through a Bank Draft in favour of Secretary, NIOS payable at NOIDA.
