The recruitment team of Air India Charters Limited is looking for applications from suitable candidates who are Type Rated Experienced Pilots on B 737 NG Aircraft for appointment of Captain & Trainee Captain in Air India Express airline which a low-cost subsidiary of Air India.

Who can apply

Applicants who are interested to apply for employment in the post of Captain & Trainee Captain must have the following criteria:
  1. Technical eligibility:
    • The Type Rating on B 737 NG Aircraft of the aspirants must be current.
    • Applicants should have DGCA certified FRTO license.
    • Instrument Rating endorsement on Indian ATPL is essential.
    • Ministry of Communication, WPC Wing, Indian Government certified RTR
    • Director General of Civil Aviation of Indian Govt. certified Airline Transport Pilot License.
    • Applicants should have current passport. In case of non-availability, candidates have to submit the proof of their application although passport is mandatory during joining.
    Note: All licenses should be valid while candidates will join for the post.
  2. Experience:
    • Candidates who are applying for the post of Captain, should have flying experience of at least 500 hours as PIC on B 737 800 aircraft when they will join
    • Candidates who are applying for the post of Trainee Captain, should have total flying experience of at least 2750 hours including at least 500 hrs. on B 737 800.
In addition to the above candidates should be in possession of Class-I certificate of medical fitness issued by DGCA of India Govt. Validity of the certificate must be till their joining.


Candidates selected for the post of Captain will be recruited for one year probation which may be confirmed thereafter. During probation Rs. 6.11 lac (approx.) will be provided per month. Additionally, other allowances which are applicable will also be given.

Location of posting

The vacancies will be filled up at different bases in the network of Air India Express as such selected candidates will be posted anywhere.

Candidates willing to apply should send their applications in prescribed format. Prescribed blank format is available at official website, Filled in application should be sent at with a cc to through e-mail. Applicants should not forget to mention "Type Rated B737NG Pilots - Your Name" - "Post applying for" in subject line of the mail.

Applications should not be attached with any copies of supporting documents.

This employment advertisement is valid for next six months from the date of its publication. And no application will be entertain thereafter.

Selection procedure of recruitment

Applicants will be called for selection process on the basis of first come first served.
Applicants who are interested to join as Captain / Trainee Captain in Air India international airline will be selected based on various tests, examination and verification. Initially, psychometric test and personal interview will be held on. It can be done on any working day which will be confirmed by the HRD. Then simulator flight proficiency will be tested. Pre-employment medical examination and background verification will be done finally.

Hostel accommodation will be provided to the candidates coming from out station to the selection procedures.

Candidates should appear for the selection process with original documents. In addition to that, original application in prescribed format supported by self-attested copies of documents and two recent passport photographs snapped front view of full face not before three months should be submitted during selection process. Photographs must be colored with light background on matt-finished paper and the name of the candidates must be written on the back side of the same. Additionally one same photo should be pasted on the space provided on the application form.

Candidates belong to reserved category should submit self-attested clear copy of their caste certificate during selection procedures.

Security bond

Candidates who will be selected for the post of Trainee Captain, have to submit twenty numbers of postdated cheques amounting of Rs. 40,00,000/- each as security deposit. Cheque will be encashed in case of their unsatisfactory training completion or incompletion of five years service after release for line flying in the organization.
