Preview After thrashing the hosts in ODI series, confidence of young Indian team is pretty high. Most of the players were on the top of their games during ODI series. KL Rahul must be looking to enhance his reputation further while Axar Patel has a golden opportunity to regain his place in regular squad. Faiz Fazal must be looking to do something what Michael Hussey did for Australia. The Australian Southpaw too made a debut at 30 just like Fazal and retired as one of the greats of the game. Zimbabwe had very little positives during the ODI series. They must be looking to make a comeback and give something to the local fans to cheer for. Zimbabwe's batting was terrible during ODI series and since they failed to make even decent scores, you can not say much about their bowling as they had no scores to defend. Indian skipper M.S.Dhoni was disappointed as he failed to get any match practise out of those three games while Zimbabwe coach Makhaya Natini was disappointed as well. Zimbabwe batsmen have to step up if they have to give any fight. They have lost the services of two of their key batsmen, Craig Ervine and Sean Williams which means the pressure is going to be enormous on Vusi Sibanda and Hamilton Maskadaza.
Players to watch out for Lokesh Rahul: KL Rahul became first Indian batsman to score a century on ODI debut during the ODI series. He scored plenty of runs for Royal Challengers Bangalore this season while opening the inning. He followed that with a man of the series performance in the ODI series. Looking at the recent struggles of Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul can sense an opportunity specially when there is a huge season of cricket is coming up.
Hamilton Maskadaza: After Craig Ervine and Sean Williams are out of the series due to injuries, Zimbabwe will be dependent a lot on Hamilton Maskadza not only to give good starts but also put up big totals. Maskadaza enjoys the shortest format of the game and Zimbabwe fans must be expecting some fireworks from him.
Possible playing XI India : KL Rahul, Faiz Fazal, Karun Nair, Manish Pandey, Ambati Rayudu, M.S.Dhoni, Axar Patel, Dhawal Kulkarni, Jasprit Bumrah, Barinder Saran, Yazuvendra Chahal
Zimbabwe: Hamilton Maskadaza, Carlton Chibhabha, Vusi Sibanda, Timycen Maruma, Malcom Waller, Elton Chigumbura, Richmond Mutumbami, Graeme Creamer, Neville Mazdiva, Tandawa Mupariwa, Donald Tiripano.
Pitch and conditionsAfter three games, the pitch must have flatted out a bit. The way Indian batsmen batted on this track in the previous match means that it will have some runs on offer. The temperature is expected to hover around in mid twenties during the course of the match which means there will be a perfect weather for cricket. There will be plenty of sunshine with blue skies and no chance of rain.
Head to Head India and Zimbabwe have played 4 times against each other in T-20s. India have won three of them while Zimbabwe have won one game.
